How many fruits/veggies do YOU need?

This site allows you to put in your age, sex, and exercise info and it will tell you how many fruits and veggies you need personally!

I love it! I have always been confused by the "* Percent Daily Values are based on a 2,000 calorie diet"

We all dont need 2000 calories, so what is the % of that item to ME?

Now I know:
2 cups of fruit and 2.5 cups of vegetables every day based on your age ( 47 ), sex ( female ), and level of physical activity ( 30 to 60 minutes ). Click here to see what counts as a cup.

  • Thanks so much for that! I have been wanting to keep an eye on my fruits/veggies and now that I know how many I need, I'm going to start tracking in my notes section.

    Thanks Jeannie! I've been trying to eat more vegetables. But for some reason it seemed hard to do. This makes it sound easy! I am going to try to get all my servings in tomorrow. Fruits I've been doing ok on. The clemetines that are out right now are so good! And a banana or apple is always easy.


    I went back & looked alittle more at that site, they also have some recipes that sound good! I'm always looking for new recipes!

    Really helpful when you click on what is a cup...... But! What the heck 6 baby carrots is a 1/2 cup???? In what Country?:grumble: :bigsmile: 6 baby carrots doesn't fill my 1/2 cup measuring cup (um, ok, haven't actually gotten up and tried it just being a bit dramatic this morning:ohwell: :wink: )...dang, losing the rest of this if I stick to eating baby carrots according to this site should be a piece of cake...well, better than a piece of cake!! Carrot cake even....which counts as a veggie right Jeannie?:huh: :wink:

    How strange...I thought a serving on the pkg. was like 14? Hm...maybe my baby carrots are smaller than the person on the site used?:laugh: :sad:

    Hm...ok I musta been eating way TOO MUCH all this time...cause I see it says 12 is one cup. Hm...ok so if I eat 36 baby carrots a day I'm in like flint on my daily veggies:blushing: :laugh: See how easy it is Sara!!:blushing: :laugh:

    I like this site:bigsmile: ...other than the carrots which totally throw me off:angry::wink: ...the rest seems pretty much what I've been doing except the orange and banana size...I learned in the past small is 1 serving, but...learn something new everyday..... but I might still go by small it's engrained in my brain..:wink:

    I loved the little plate you can drag your food over to! It was really cool to see average cals for a plate of food!

    Hey now! I didn't see nooo lil plate to drag anywhere....I best check that site out more closely....I was ranting on the baby carrots to much and missed the rest:laugh: :blushing: :bigsmile:
