I am in week three. I plan to weigh in at week 5. When I finish my foods for the day it says at the bottom, if you do this in 5 weeks you will be here, etc.
Question: Is it possible to have weight loss before it shows on mfp?

I don't fully understand the question? I try to wait at least a week in between weigh ins so I don't get frustrated if the scale doesn't move. But it is possible to loose. But it won't go by your calories and generate a weight loss for you if that is what you are asking.0

you mean to hit the number under "if you ate like this for five weeks, you'd weigh ___"? I think a lot of people find that is unrealistic, because our bodies are so different.0

Yeah I use that as motivation. Not sure how true it is. I will have to write it down tonight and match it up with what I weigh in 5 weeks.0 -
That number is a hypothetical. If all your days were exactly the same you would see results like that but the only time you see change here is when you weigh in and you change it. The site follows you not the other way around. If you're aiming to lose a pound a week, pick a day of the week and weigh in on that day every week. If you see the pound difference, you're on the right track. But I wouldn't put too much stock in that theoretical number it spits out at you.. Good luck0

yes, because every pound you loose drops that number on the bottom. So if you never change your weight you will hit that number.0

I don't think you should wait 5 weeks to weigh yourself. I think choosing a day once a week and weigh in on that day would be ideal for anyone.
I say this because your body is changing on a regular basis inside and out. (some see it more easily than others, but there are changes). Your start weight at the beginning will be one number, and you calorie requirement at that time will be another number. Now, say you lost 2 lbs a week for the last 3 weeks, that would change your first number by 6lbs, and if you are eating the same amount of calories as you did at the beginning you could be slowing the loss by eating to much. So, by updating your weight each week you can stay on track.. (maybe 6 lbs isn't the best number to use, 10lbs loss is usually the milestone to look at) But I hope you get the idea.
If you weigh in each week you can also track your progress. For instance, if you wait until the 5th week to weigh in, and there has been no change a person could become frustrated and fall of the wagon. Now if you were to weigh in each week and know that the scale is not moving then you can adjust your meal plans or your workouts for the following week. thereby staying on track and staying on top of any difficulties you may not have known existed.

Maybe I don't understand how it works. Are you saying when you weigh yourself and adjust on mfp that your scale moves? So it is not automatic. One must weight and then change their weight on the site? if that is the case. .every 5 weeks is good for me. I can't stand all that weighing in so often, it does nothing for my motivation. Thanks for your input.0
