Seriously, I'm obsessed with my ankles

It sounds so bizarre but I realized tonight I'm really obsessed with my ankles as an indicator of my progress. Has anyone else noticed that definition in one's ankles can be a great indicator of fitness? Back in June, before I made my lifestyle change, I had cankles. Pretty much just very round and only a hint of the ankle bone protruding. Now my ankles have real definition, no longer round, you can see the tendons and ligaments and the knobs on my ankle bones are very obvious now. I find myself constantly admiring the lok especially when I'm wearing athletic clothing/shoes. Am I really just that weird or have others found themselves admiring odd aspects of their body?

My calves I think. They have always been large, but now I can see muscle.

Even now that I'm skinny I have fat ankles. It's a genetic thing- something about muscle and tendon attachment.

Weird thing is/was that even at my heaviest, I still had great ankles. When I was uber-fat, it was one of those things I could still admire and not loathe about my body.

But now that I weigh less, I notice that my ankles really respond to how active I am. They get thicker when I've been sedentary--like water is pooling in my lower extremities. But a quick walk wround the block will flush 'em right out so they look good again.

Ankles for me too. I lift my legs up in the morning (when they're at their slenderest) and just admire - and I have a long way to go before the bones 'protrude'. I thought I was the only one who was obsessed with it. I have a lot of overweight friends who still have pretty ankles, so I am very conscious of the' ankles - especially when I'm wearing a dress. :blushing:
  • I have very large legs, including my calves and my cankles. I have had large legs all of my life. I hope that I can get rid of my cankles one day. I am sure we all get obsessed about one part of our body or another...whichever we are noticing the weight loss the best in. My eyes are on my stomach and waist. This is the whole reason that I started trying to lose weight is my stomach because it drives me crazy when i get rolls on it. My stomach is the last place that I gain my weight in so it acts as my indicator that I am getting OBESE! Good going on your weight loss and your awesome ankles:)

My calves. They've always been big and they're definitely smaller now. I catch myself looking at them a lot lol.
  • I have a very long gastroc muscles and a short achilles...one of the shortest my orthopod who had to fix it, has ever seen...so I will ALWAYS have large ankles and poor calf definition and always have....

I've always had thick ankles but something that REALLY helped was skin brushing. One of the pleasant surprise benefits of daily, dry skin brushing was my ankles slimmed way down. I heartily recommend adding it to anyone's daily routine!
