Why people give up on P90X

I'm starting P90X this week...

I know a lot of people that have started it, but I don't see so many people graduating the 90 days... or if they do, they keep it quiet!

Just wondering why people might not keep it up so I can learn from this and try to stay focussed. I'm certainly looking forward to it!

Maybe because its super hard, and people cant keep up with it?

I struggled with jillian michaels 30 day shred! I got tp level 2, and that was it for me!

yeh but the thing is with the shred the more you do it the much easier it is! i find that way to easy for me and i'm a big girl!! lol

i am also starting the p90x tomorrow :noway: and i will be proud to put that i have graduated at the end of my signiture!:drinker: (just before xmas to)

if you find the shred hard and you have truely stuck to it EVERYDAY then re do it again until you find you have to have a new challenge in your fitness levls :blushing:

P90X is a big time commitment. 6 days a week working out and the average day is ~75 minutes with one day at 90 minutes. It's hard to commit yourself to that type of time schedule for 90 days. Life is life, things pop up and derail your plans.

That said...the key is to MODIFY. If you miss a day or two due to life events, don't throw in the towel. Just jump back into it!

Also, many people try to keep up with Tony and the gang and get frustrated when they can't. Just do the best that *you* can do, and you will do great. Don't even *think* about trying to keep up with Tony. Modify the moves that you can't do.

Oh, and EAT BACK YOUR EXERCISE CALORIES when doing this program.

For me, it was mostly a time thing. I got through about 7 weeks and definitely saw a difference in my body, although I didn't follow a diet plan closely enough so didn't get as much actual weight loss as I would have liked. Ultimately, it was too much time to commit. I am now on Chalean Extreme and loving it.

You should also know that P90X-2 is coming out soon.

I did it for 3 weeks, but quit because it's more of an endurance training program than strength training.

It's a fine program, it just isn't compatible with my goals.

II think a lot of people quit because it's too hard! Or they just don't have a good support team. Some people struggle with the diet.. But those that actually stick with it have amazing results!

If you have any questions or need an little extra support feel free to send me a friends request or PM!

    This.

It's not the dificult in and of itself...I love how challenging it was. Keeping up with those guys (particularly on pullups lol) can be problematic...but I didn't worry. The rest, I did ok for the most part.

The problem...was the time commitment. I'm a single Dad to three kids, 13, 5, and 4yrs old. I work 10hrs plus a day, five days a week. The suggestion to jump right back into it if you miss a workout etc...is a valid one, but not if you're missing five a week lol.

I'd love to complete P90x...but right now...and for the forseeable future, it's just so not in the cards.

    Thanks all for the responses.

I'm not too concerned about how difficult it is because I think it's about doing the best you can, but the commitment thing might prove difficult especially in the first few weeks as I adjust.

I don't have kids to look after and my job is day time only, so if I fail it'll be because I'm not putting the effort in!

I think people already answered the OP's questions but - speaking of P90X2, what's up with that? My honey and I were talking about starting P90X in a little bit (although I can almost guarantee he will be a dropout, I work out 1hr every day already but he doesn't even work out 1x a week yet).

So I go to the beachbody site and its all P90X -2 -- is that like a sequel, or is it a total rewrite? Meaning do you go straight to P90X-2 or do you start with 1?

(PS OP: you might want to commit to the TIME rather than the program if you aren't in good shape yet - so if you ever get up one day, look at that DVD, and think you would rather be dead than do P90X today, at least go do SOMETHING for an hour. Keep up the time commitment)
