The Xbox Kinect!

So, yesterday I didn't really feel like going on my Cross Trainer, but I still wanted to burn off some calories (I had been for a Nando's in the afternoon). My housemate and I decided that we would spend the evening playing on the Xbox Kinect!
WHAT AN AMAZING WORKOUT!
The Kinect Sports game was exhausting, especially the track and field events. You had to do hurdles, sprint 100m etc. And even the boxing gave me a really good work out, working my arms and my core muscles.
But, when I tried to log my kinect work out, there was nothing on the sytem that was related to it.
I decided to put it down as a general circuit work out, do you think that was the right thing to do?
in 40 minutes I burnt over 400 calories just by having fun

I always put aerobics down for my xbox kinect, but I guess it depends on what game you play :-)0

Kinect sports is great fun but if you want a proper workout try Your shapes cardio boxing or The biggest loosers 30day workouts, they will get you burning around 300-400cal in under 45min and work up a real sweat + good for toning with lots of situps, pressups etc!
Here is someone doing the platinum cardio box workout, gets much faster after half way once its shown you all the moves

The mini games are great fun on it too, one involves destroying blocks as they come on screen by punching across your body, harder levels include kicks

you should DEFINATELY try zumba on the kinect. I lost 2kg (around 4lbs) this week doing intermediate 45mins everday. it is so fun sometimes i did it twice, there are lots of routines to try and you can go online and download more, or even find a live class to dance along with so you cant get bored! AND you can burn around 650cals per class!0

@bondbill2k2: does the biggest looser involve any floor work? due to space restrictions at home the way i have the kinect set up means floor work just isn't picked up by the sensor, so games with a lot of floor work aren't really worth it for me0

@whiskey9890 the biggest loser does include floor work, that is the problem that I have with it, because the scanner cannot see me when I am on the floor, and i don't really have enough space.0

@tina2222 Can you explain what Zumba is please? I see a lot of people talking about it, but I don't really have any idea what it entails. is it a form of dance? x0

@lausa22 thanks for the tip! next time I play I will put in under areobics and see if that works out better0

My sister bought the personal trainer game for the kinect last week. It has 9-week training programs and other things :-)
It comes with a resistance band and a HRM too! And tells you how many calories you've burned I think.0 -

yea its a dance based workout that revolves around latin style dancing. Its a type of interval traigning workout which means there are fast and slow routines mixed together to give you an awesome workout. the high impact routines really get your HR up and the low impact ones you can really feel working your legs arms and tummy (as the low impact is more stregnth/toning exercises mixed in with the dances). I highly recommend it! if you want anymore info i can PM you some in the morning - its 10.45pm here (im in New Zealand) so im off to bed now, but yea just ask. I can send you some info thats in the game case0 -

That would be amazing thank you! It sounds like a fun work out, and thats what I am all about0 -
Your shape is a good exercise game. cardio boxing is cool, and in the gym games section the box smashing game is fun and gives a decent workout.0
