Hello All!!
So I got my "CJack19 has logged in for 20 days in a row!!" message this morning. Very happy about that - finally sticking to something. Since I started, I have changed my eating habits, added more vegetables, cut back to my 1200 calories, drink at least my 8 glasses of water a day and for the past 6 days been doing the 30DS.... Along with the (for the 20 days) my husband and I have been walking at least 20 - 30 minutes a day with our dogs.
and..... NOTHING! I feel better, for sure but for the past 2 weeks the scale hasn't budged at all. I am VERY frustrated. I went from doing nothing (i.e. getting home from work and not excerising) to getting home from work, doing my work out, eating a healthy dinner - small portion - going for a walk...)
I am extremely frustrated! I know it takes time, but I would have thought I would have lost SOMETHING. My husband said I am probably toning more because I am working out ...
I do feel better ... the water for sure makes me feel better and the excercise, but I have to admit - I am so flipping frustrated!!!!!!!!
any advice? (I know I need to do more excercise - I am going to be increasing the lenght of my walks....)
Thanks in advance!

You may want to make your diary open to MFP friends. Also track your sodium. Seems like every time I go over sodium, I either gain weight or don't lose any. Also add a lot of people. The motivation they provide really helps. Congrats on the 20 days. :happy:0

You have to measure yourself and ONLY weigh-in once a week.
Some things I have learned...
1. In the first weeks of starting exercise program most folks gain weight because muscle weighs more than fat. SO don't just weigh yourself... MEASURE to see what your body is really doing.
2. NEVER eat less than about 125O calories... OR try to loose too much too fast. Your body goes into starvation mode and retains fat.
3. It took YEARS to put on the weight... eat HEALTHY (food pyramid) exercise regularly... and slowly it will come off.
4. SLOW weight loss is most likely to stay off long term.
5. DON"T "diet"... just learn to eat properly and exercise regularly.
Fill out your profile, particpate on these boards, add some friends who encourage you .... and HAVE FUN with it!!

I know this may sound weird, but you may not be getting enough calories. Your body may bein starvation mode. I was working on 4 days a week and eating 1200 calories and the scale was not moving so I talked to a trainer and they stated that I was not getting enough calories, so I increased my calories and before I knew it, I started losing again.
Good Luck!!!!0 -
Just remember that bodies sometimes are very untrusting. You're doing more, you're burning more, you're eating healthier, and your body is just like, "omg, what's happening?" You might be holding on to more water. Watch your sodium intake, especially if you eat out AT ALL, as that will make you retain more water too. We went to Applebee's for lunch yesterday and my friend had one of their "Weigh Watchers" entrees--under 550 calories, but over 2400mg of sodium. Just goes to show that you can't always count on calories to give you the whole picture. And be patient. Especially if you don't have tons of weight to lose, it can take a little bit of time for your body to readjust to what's happening. Stay committed & have fun! Good luck!0

Very likely that you're under-consuming for the amount of exercise you're doing. It would benefit you to get a more accurate assessment of the amount of cals you need each day (without exercise, or in other words, your resting metabolic rate). This calorie amount should be your bare minimum and it's usually more than 1200 cals. So if you're exercising, you're depriving your body of what it needs to function properly (including it's ability to burn fat). I've been there, and learned the hard way. Make your workouts count and work for you!!0

Thanks everyone! I opened my diary to my friends - just need more friends now! Feel free to add me please!!!!
I have been wondering if I have been under in my calories...somedays I am under, so I will pay more attention to that. I always am worried during the day that I will run out and then sometimes end up under after dinner - but too late to eat more. I drank a glass of milk one night to push me up!
Of course then my protein goes over!!!
This sure is a BIG learning curve to this healthy eating thing!!!0
