I have been posting my NSV's to my friends, now I'd like to share and read others too...

I have a coffee every Sunday morning with an eldery neighbor. She showed me photos of her 87th birthday lunch we had last week... and for the first time in a loooooong time I was very happy with how I looked in the photos... I gave up on the scales a while ago and I'm glad I did... I had my correct cals last week maybe had 100 or so of my exercise cals a few times and I put on 1kg! .. I know I'm going good I also did a lot of strength training because I'm working on my back and arms... no I didn't put on a kg of muscle... Hahaha ... My NSV's keep me focused, if I had the scales as my master I would have given up months ago!

What's your NSV?

I keep track of my measurements and though I haven't had a lot of luck on the scale to start I have lost 4 inches in my wiast and abdomen. I also can tell that my thigh muscles are getting very toned as well as my arms. I agree that if you rely on the scale only you set yourself up for frustration. Congrats on the NSV s.

Kind of a weird one, but you asked....

This morning the wife & I were lying in bed (neither of us is feeling well), and I had an itch on the back of my thigh. I lifted my leg to scratch and suddenly realized that the back of my thigh was actually tight with some real muscle tone, rather than the flapping flabby mess I was used to...

With losing weight, I started running. Every month or so, my distance and/or my speed are increasing. This is my NSV. :)

My speed on the elliptical is increasing, and I can do so much more. Clothes that were tight now fit a little more like they should.
    I can touch my toes!
  • Wow! Awesome NSV's ! I love reading them...
  • Yesterday, my husband, son and I helped a family from church move into their new home. They had posted that they would have donuts for everyone so I took bananas and bottled water for us. Well, he brings in three big boxes of Dunkin' Donuts. I saw those familiar colors and shivered!! I came very, very close to having one, justifying in my mind that I would be doing a lot of work to burn off the calories. Well, my angel inside my mind began to recite to me all the reasons why I should resist, including how good it would feel to post on MFP wall that I resisted ... so, I did ... resist, that is! I made it the whole time, coming within seeing distance several times, and did not have one. Once I even saw the box opened! Egads!! It felt so good to leave knowing that I had won that battle.

My other one is that yesterday afternoon, after helping them move in the morning, I was able to do 1.2 mile on the treadmill, 30 minutes, without stopping once. I kept an even pace the whole time and made it! I'm really getting a kick out of all these fabulous changes that are happening in my life. Hard to believe that 3 months ago I was a huge blob on my couch and never moved or exerted any energy. I may start a blog and title it "Blob to Athlete".

I simply feel better. Have more energy, sleeping better at night, and am more mindful of what I eat. I doubt I have lost one ounce or inch yet and am not sure how many swear words I will utter at weigh in tomorrow when the scale hasn't shifted in the desired direction, but do feel better and have gotten back into swimming and even jogged yesterday!

Went on vacation this weekend...now checking out all the L size shirts window shopping...30 months ago, I would think about going home...going to a website and seeing if I could make a 4x to remember the time. Guess I am now part of the general vacationing public.

    :-)
