Good evening ladies and gentlemen!! I have all of the partners figured out, and our spreadsheet is complete! Welcome to week one of the 20 by 2012 challenge! We will have 2 challenges every week; one food challenge, and one exercise challenge. These challenges will be posted on a google doc, and the link can be found in my blog, plus I will post a new thread for the start of each week. Our two challenges this week are going to be fairly simple to start out with. Our food challenge is to track EVERYTHING you eat EVERY DAY. If it helps, keep your food diary public so we can all see and you will have the whole group to help keep you accountable. There are 24 of us online, and the 25th person is my mom, who is doing this challenge, but she is not on this website. Our exercise challenge is to take a 15-30 minute walk EVERY DAY! This is included with whatever other exercises you may be doing, not replacing them! Some of us may just now be starting out, so a 15 minute walk may be all someone can do. If you can do more, I encourage you to do so!!!!!

Good luck this week, and I can't wait to see how everyone progresses!!!

So do weigh in here?? Am out the door for my C25K, it's a walk/jog for 30 minutes, that should count for the challenge, no?0

Ok....I weighed in at 145 and took a 25 minute walk/jog.0
-
I weighed in at 156.5 and I haven't exercised yet. I'll probably go job for a bit soon.0
-
Weighing in at 169.6. After Tropcial Storm Lee, it's a nice, breezy 70ish degrees outside, so I will def get out of the house later. Will it still count if I ride my bike 15-30 min?0

Hey there - weighing in for this week - 212, so that being the case I'm adjusting my goal for the challenge to 192.
I work today so walking on top of my usual squeaked-in-work-day bike ride may be a bit hard, especially with TS Lee still providing a bit of rainy weather. I'll do my darndest, though. ^_^0 -
does work count? i am running all over the store the whole time i'm there...and i don't get off til 9:30 so I don't have time to add a walk in...lol :P but...i'm going to shipshewana with my mom tomorrow so will get plenty of walking then :P0

Hey ya'll! So a lot of you are asking if your normal exercise can count as your walk. The walk challenge is a challenge because it is added to your normal workouts, not replacing your normal workouts! If you want to ride your bike, instead of walking, just add an extra 15 minutes if possible! If you are doing the C25K, I also am doing that. However, I am going to just add some extra time to my cool down!! I know I'm posting a little late today, but I was up until 3 last night!! I decided to sleep in a bit, which is so bad because now I'm not eating breakfast, just going straight to lunch!! But, with it being a holiday weekend, I know I will get right back on track tomorrow!! I hope everyone has had an amazing labor day weekend!!!
So, again for the walking challenge, I started out with walking because it is usually something that can be added fairly easily. I will leave it up to you if you want to use it as your main exercise or not!!0 -
Oh! And for those asking about weighing in.....You can weigh in here or you can send me a private message!! I will go through all posts on the threads, in my messages, on my wall, and on my blog to make sure I have not missed anyone! Also, in case I haven't mentioned it, I will start the new week's thread on Sunday nights.0

I had a procedure done to my foot and will be out of commission for walking for the next few days... but I will make up for it when I'm able to!0

Just for the record, today would have been my rest day for c25k but due to the challenge I got out there and did it, I normally play tennis on Mondays, so that will be in addition to my walk/jog! Didn't want you to think I was slacking!! lol0

Great job!!!! Glad to see such dedication from you guys0 -
Loving it ladies if any of you want to add me please do xxx0

I just did my first walk for the challenge! I walked and then did a 15 minute jog!!!! I was going to go for a bike ride, but my tires are flat, and I didnt' feel like airing them up. LOL So I think I'll do a bunch of crunches and other stomach exercises.0
-
I went for an hour-long walk! I rambled around town with a friend Lots of fun, and good exercise!0

Figuring this out ,
My start weight for this challenge is 193lbs
Today I am going for a walk as that is about all I can do , due to a bad cold ... But it was too nice to stay in all day.
I am hoping doing this with others will be the accountability I need to keep up with this0 -

I hope you get to feeling better! I'm just getting over a sinus infection, and it felt great to go for a walk today!0 -

I LOVE going for walks with friends!! It seems as though you will always walk longer, and sometimes faster depending on who you are walking with!0 -
I went for an extra-long bike ride (normally ride abt 15 miles and went 20 today woot!), so can I count that as my extra 15-30 minutes? I also did 30DS. I'll add a walk to my ride and 30ds tomorrow.
Great job everyone!0 -
Got out for my C25K run this morning...added 5 minutes to my warm up walk and 10 minutes to my cool down walk....giving me 15 minutes towards this weeks challenge!!0

Ugh, I did NOT want to work out after school today! BUT I want a glass of wine and maybe even gelato after dinner -- so I hopped on the elliptical for 20, and then took our aged doggie for his vet-approved 15 minute walk. There may be another short walk after dinner, but we will have to see how he feels.
I weighed in at 186.3 this morning for the 2nd day in a row, which is higher than my 185.6 last week. I know it is hormone/water related, though, because I didn't over consume on the food end. Maybe I was just dehydrated on the 185.6 day...anyway -- happy challenge to all!0 -
Walking with Leslie tonight. Rainy in Cincinnati, and the little one has Chicken Pox.0

I know how you feel!! I was with pre-schoolers today, and after chasing them around I did not want to do anything when I got home...but the first thing I did when I walked in the door was change into my workout clothes!!! I can't be slackin when I expect you guys to meet these challenges!!!! LOL0
