Hi Everyone,

I am starting to get worried that I am loosing too much weight too FAST !!

I know everyone is saying for healthy weight loss - No more than 2lbs per week MAX !!!

I started my lifestyle change 11 weeks ago at 323.4 lbs, I am 6'4'' tall and 42 years old, My Target is 250 - 240 lbs.
I monitor my progress every week using an Omron Body Composition Monitor.
I am loosing on average 4lbs per week, my body fat % is coming down every week and my muscle % is going up every week ( according to the monitor )
Today my weight was 277 lbs - I lost 4.6 lbs last week !!! and a total loss in 11 weeks of 46.4 lbs
I do cardio 3 times a week and for the last 8 weeks I have been doing weight training 3 times a week.
I am getting stonger every week as I am adding to the weights I lift and I can see the muscles getting more defined in the mirror.
I am eating 4 times a day and using whey protien shakes as well to help keep & build muscle i have, I don't feel hungry or feel tired at all, so I think my body is not burning muscle instead of fat

I have my daily calories set to 2150 with a ratio of 40% Carbs 30% Protien 30% Fat. I am always about 50 - 100 cals under per day and I am NOT eating back my excercise calories.

Should I stick with all that I am doing or should I change things ???

  • Well id be happy with those results haha!

if you are worried, maybe go see your doctor and tell them your concerns
  • You are a big guy with a lot to lose! I am astounded by some of the weight loss on the Biggest Loser for example & your 4 lbs a week seems ok. It will slow down though....

It is quite normal to lose a fair bid of weight if you're bit heavier. The slimmer you get the harder it will be to keep up the same result. But it is not unhealthy to lose that much weight in a short period as the benefits from being less overweighted or better for your body as a rapid lose of weight.

Great respect for you by the way for your effort and your strength, well done.

As you have a fair amount of weight to lose, i would say that its ok to lose more than a pound or 2 per week, as this proably wont last.

However, you do say that you are NOT eating your exercise calories, which means that you are creating an even bigger deficit than MFP has set for you, in order to lose 1 or 2 pounds, so thats why you are losing so much per week.
