40+ and Running?!

    I've discussed running with my GP. He's said repeatedly that I'll be absolutely fine as long as I listen to my body, don't force things, build my running up in slow increments.

    To suggest anyone over 40 can't do *anything* seems to me to be an expression of prejudice, not good sound advice!

    I hope your husband starts running, loses the weight and does a few laps around this PT. :)

    I have to pop in here too, as I started running when I was morbidly obese, and almost 40! I am now 40 and still overweight, and I run every day!! I think you have to listen to your body though if you have issues with joints or pain, you might need to scale down until your body can handle it, but I lost over 80 pounds with running (well, maybe 60, first 20 I went on the elliptical)...
