I'm thinking of getting rid of the chair in my office and using an exercise ball to sit on instead. Has anyone else done this?

Not too sure HOW MUCH work I would get done :noway:   and what my boss would think (What with Health and Safety Gone Mad).

"Life may not be the party we hoped for:angry::grumble: :noway: but while we are here we might as well dance!:drinker  :blushing:"

  • I would definitely recommend the ball/chair combo over a ball by itself.
You can see some reviews here and others appear to agree:
    http://www.amazon.com/Isokinetics-Balance-Ball-Chair-Choice/dp/B000VKAW8E/ref=pd_sim_sg_3

We have various choices of seating at my work and the ball chairs are popular. I do know they are not for everyone and can become uncomforatable for sitting long periods of time. I think I would keep the office chair on stand by for those times you may need a break.

Hmmm, wonder what my family would think if I exchanged my dinning chairs for them ????

I do have to report that I have a friend who got one, only to discover that she got motion sickness from it. . .so for eating. . .maybe not?

Well....it might cause me to lose my appetite and thus kill two birds with one stone!

I haven't heard of anyone doing this.

There was a guy at my last job who got them to give him a stand up workstation instead of a desk and he put a treadmill under it and would walk all day. He had sort of a help desk job, so he was on a headset working on his computer all day and he'd just walk, talk and type.

The ball alone is not really that good for you. I purchased a balance ball chair from Isokinetics, it is funny looking but it allows for longer sitting time on the ball, mobility around your desk or office and a back rest to give your back a break.

The idea is good, the reason I bought teh chair is I work at home and found that the balance ball is only good for a little bit before it actually caused more problems that it cured! Plus, I have recently read a few articles on avoiding the ball alone as a chair.

Your goal is good but do some research and choose the best option for you! :drinker:

Thanks for the feedback and good info, everyone! I had never heard of the ball chair but did go to the website. $99 is actually not a bad price for a desk chair when you think about it. It's pretty funky looking, though!! I'm sure my co-workers would get a lot of laughs out of it! Now if only I had $99.....

They look like disney chairs, you know, big and cartoonish, but it works!
