Should I even bother with them? Someone said to me that for rapid FAT loss, I should not bother with weights that much, and instead focus on HITT cardio everyday. Sure i'll lose muscle as well but I can always get that back when I start strength training again. That is apparently the reason why my weight loss is slow. What are your ideas on this?

Strength training builds muscle, plain and simple. Muscle is, of course, more dense that fat, so as you build muscle, your weight loss might slow down (or, if you manage to build muscle at the same rate you lose fat, the weight loss would stop entirely).

However, that is NOT a bad thing. You're gaining lean mass when you gain muscle. Muscle also requires energy to maintain, so the more muscle you have, the more calories you'll burn, even at rest.

Why are you worried about your weight to the point of being willing to sacrifice lean mass for the number on the scale?

If you have time for both, definitely incorporate weights - It doesn't have to take a long time. You could accomplish it by incorporating a few powerful, full body moves like kettlebell swings, squat jumps and pushups at the end of your HIIT cardio workout.. Just like losing fat is harder than adding it, building back muscle may not be as easy as losing it.

A person can strength train without using weights. A person can build lean muscles without using weights.
