Hi,
First, I wish you a lot of luck and strength to make lifestyle changes. Don't consider it a 'diet' but instead change your life. Then you won't slip back into your old 'life' as easy.
Second, log your food. Use the diary here. I am not sure how new you are, but I didn't see many entries. Even if you start to 'fall off' - LOG EVERYTHING.
Third, admit to yourself that exercise is going to be a very important part of your life - FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
Turn that frown upside down and pull yourself together - you can do this when you are ready to do this.
Cheers, Christy0 -
just keep at it girl remember its about changing your
attitude to food not just a diet its for life keep going and goodluck feel free to add me if you need friends for support x0 -
I have had a similiar track record - until this time. Now, if i fall off, it's only for 3-7 days and then i go back. Although I'd prefer not to go off at all, at least it doesn't undo all teh good and all of the conditioning in that week.
My advice, or at least what has changed things for me this time, is to find an exercise that you LOVE. Not one that you tolerate- but LOVE. I have recently taken up a raquet sport and am totally addicted- been playing since Spring- it's no longer an effort to get exercise because I am having fun- when I exercise, I am less likely to eat poorly because I feel like I'm working for nothing- so it seems to be a circular thing...
I guess that's my best advice. I have been in your shoes for the last 4 years and this has been the solution for me.0 -
I yo-yo'd my whole life. Then I decided I was no longer going to diet.
I log all my food. I exercise. I eat high protein, low carbs and I am almost never hungry. I try to have 6 meals a day.
Protein protein protein keeps me from binging. I would go 3 weeks and then binge. Like clockwork.
I check in here every day. I have wonderful support friends on MFP. I surround myself with people that check in every day.
I also drink a lot of water.
keep coming back!0 -

"Log Everthing". I totally agree!!! Even when I go off, I still log- it makes me face the mistakes I make and see the damage I am doing- instead of ignoring it. Log log log!!!0 -
I used to do that everytime I started to lose weight. It was like, ok, I have clothes to fit into now so I can stop. Or it would be I have to lose weight for an upcoming event. When I decided that my new goal is to be fit when I die, my whole attitude has changed. It doesn't have to all come off by tomorrow. I am happy with a 1 or 2 pound loss per week, and if I don't lose anything, no problem. You have to be in this for the long haul. Your goal should not be to lose 10, 20, 50 or 100 pounds. It should be to get to your ideal weight however long that takes, do it safely, and sustain that weight for the rest of your life. It has never worked for me to do a crash of fad diet thinking when I get skinny, then I'll eat right. You gotta start now and do it for the rest of your life. Just my .02, good luck to you.0

"I start doing good and then I lose about 10-15 pounds...."
No you don't. That's not how it works. Nobody "loses" weight. That's passive. You don't "lose" it. When you "lose" something, you don't know where it's gone. You may "take it off," "drop it," "make it go bye-bye," "dispatch it to another plane of existence,"... your choice. But when it's gone, you know EXACTLY where it went. More importantly, you know how it got to be somewhere other than on your body, and the answer, always, always, always, is that YOU put it there.
Next time you relieve yourself of 10-15 pounds, OWN IT. (And be proud of yourself. This ain't easy and a little pride is in order). YOU did it. It is not something that just sort of randomly happened to you. You don't have a fairy godmother who sprinkled "skinny dust" on you. The number on the scale is lower because of things you did.
And, if you like seeing the smaller number on the scale, like seeing the slimmer 'you' in the mirror, like the way your clothes fit, and most importantly, like the way you feel at a lower weight, then why in the world would you stop doing whatever you did to make that happen?0 -

I DO THE SAME!! I'LL DO GOOD FOR A FEW WEEKS THEN I BINGE. I ALSO DONT UNDERSTAND ALL THAT LOW CARB HIGH PROTEIN STUFF!!! CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME.0 -

I couldn't have said it better myself! This is where I'm at.....in it for the long haul....no matter how long it takes! I'm learning as I go. I finally just broke through an almost 2 month plateau....but during that 2 months I lost 6 inches! For me (finally), it's not just about a number on the scale. It's about a healthier me.....a more energetic me....and I'm working at it one day at a time!0
