My boyfriend has a giftcard for Mitchells Fish Market that we would like to use for a special occasion some day. Problem is, I am not big on seafood, and I just checked out the menu...there is one chicken item, and the steaks are way too expensive even for a gift card. I love Tuna, but that is about the only seafood I like. I would like to try something there, but I have no idea of what I could possibly like. Can someone reccomend something from there or seafood in general that a non-seafood lover could like. I don't like real "fishy-fish" and another thing I don't like about seafood is how "spongy" the food seems to me. Any suggestion would be appreciated! I also wouldn't mind discovering a fish I can stand that I could cook since it is so good for you.

    Alas, I'm no help.
    I love fish. LOVE:love:
So I couldn't tell you of any non-fishy-tasting fish.

Try Grouper. Its a firm white deep sea fish that has a texture a lot like steak. It doesn't taste at all fishy. Halibut and Mahi might be good choices. They are firm white fish and don't taste fishy if fresh. Tilapia is another firm white fish and is extremely reasonable in price. Flounder: ditto.

Most fish, if it's fresh, doesn't taste "fishy". Or, at least, not in my opinion.

The big exception for me has always been swordfish. It is very fishy to me.

Ask your waitperson what they would recommend. They are probably most familiar with the sauces/flavors the chef's use. :flowerforyou:
