So here's the truth in the matter . . .

Things need to change. Easy to say, but not that easy to do.

I think I have learned that I can get through life with minimal effort. Growing up I was smart and made straight A's in school without really studying (I am not bragging, I am trying to work through my thoughts). I was pretty, had a good complexion, was a little on the chunky side, but it wasn't as bad as it is now.

But now, as I have gotten older, gotten a little more sedentary both at work and after, I have really packed it on. I have also lost a lot of desire to do other things. I used to be really outgoing and social, but don't really want to put forth the effort to do that either. I want to loose weight, but I want to eat and don't want to work out. I want to quit smoking, but not really. I want a clean house, but don't want to clean it. I want to build up my savings account, but I want to go shopping. So what do I do? Whatever is easier. And that's what needs to change.

I like myself. I pride myself in being honest about who and what I am, but am I really? Maybe I like myself because it is easier than hating myself.

Welcome to the club-being human. Easier is often our preference. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

If I can do this, you can do this.

Here's to change, :drinker: which is hard.....

I read a quote-think it was a fb status that said "do something that scares you every day." I love that, because I so often DON'T.

Yesterday, I wore a scarf. How's that for a big risk? lol. I have many in my closet, because I love them, but I never seem to actually wear them. Can't explain it. But I did it, and I survived, so I think I will do it again. woot woot for small psychological victories.

  • I can't believe SOMEONE out there also has a closet full of beautiful scarves and feels uncomfortable wearing them. I am not alone. As far as "the truth", I taught Math for a lot of years and taking the easy way seems to be the first thing teenagers try. They invent easy ways to keep from attempting difficult or complex. So, maybe if you do one thing, clean a sink or straighten a shelf and praise yourself. Soon you will be doing two or three things rather than taking the easy way out. Filling out the food diary was one of the last things I had to work at, so it was easy to ignore. Keep trying.
