Eating and mental disorder support?

Hi, I'm kinda new to MFP, and i found this site very useful to my daily life compaired to dailyplate. By using this site, i was hoping to help myself with my problems; i unfortunately suffer from EDONS, body dysmorphic disorder, and schizoaffective disorder.
I constantly struggle with my weight and have this mind set to keep losing weight, but i guess not in a healthy way. I can't break away from this, it's like i'm being chained down, and every time i look in the mirror i look like a beached whale, and the voices don't help either. Umm...If it isn't too much of me to ask from those who suffer/ed from an eating disorder or a mental disorder, can i get a little support?

  • *hugs* feel free to add me :) i've had depression for 10 years, and was a binge eater till i started this site. i think there are quite a few people with both mental issues and EDs because i've talked to people with both in threads, not sure if there's a specific support thread here tho D:

    Heya,
My heart goes out to you, I can relate to the eating/mental disorder battle. As one of the other members said, I think it is fairly common that the 2 go hand-in-hand. I've struggled with an eating disorder, as well as anxiety/depression. I understand that it can be a great struggle and a very frustrating one. You seem extremely resilient, being able to talk about your challenges. I think we will be a good source of support for each other.
Hang in there- it does get better. Those voices can fade. I know they are strong, but there is also a healthy voice in you somewhere, no matter how quiet or silent it has been through the years. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

    -K

I can sympathize, feel free to add me. I come from an ED background. My number one suggestion is therapy. I LOVE my therapist, and I would suggest you see someone if you aren't already.
  • I'm overweight, and EDNOS. I also have manic depression as well as issues with addiction.
