Good HR monitor?

So I'm finally to a place where exercising is a part of my lifestyle. I do track it on MFP, but I just don't feel like their estimates are accurate. For instance, MFP shows breast stroke as burning more calories than back stroke, and I find I work WAY harder on the latter.
So in order to more accurately gauge the ways I'm changing my body, I'd like to buy a good heart rate monitor.
Couple of requirements--
I'm pretty fat, so it probably can't go around my upper arm.
I'm pretty broke, so it has to be as affordable as possible.
I like to swim three times a week, so if there's one that goes in water, WOOHOO!
Anyone have one they like that meets these criteria? If you have an expensive one you can always share, Christmas is coming and my parents need a present for me.

Polar FT4 or FT7 both can go in the water, but the signal can be hard to pick up.
FT4 is 63 dollars on amazon.com shipped.. not sure what the going rate for the FT7 on amazon is.
You'll also need one with a chest strap if you want an accurate calorie estimation.0 -
My Polar FT7 was the greatest fitness purchase I ever made.0

Thanks! A hundred bucks is a bit impossible on my current budget, but like I said, Christmas is coming! At least now I have a start point for my research, too.

I just bought the polar ft7 Saturday...so exciting. I have gotten 2 work outs in and love that I have an accurate calorie burn!!! I paid 109, but on line you can get them for alittle less. I just couldn't wait.
Good Luck0 -
I just bought the Polar FT7 yesterday at Sports Authority for $109 and I love it!! So nice finally having an accurate record. :happy:0
