Looking for 1/2 Marathon training buddies :)

Options
I am currently training for a 1/2 marathon (my first!) that is on October 15th. Looking for people for advice, support, etc that may be training for a similar race this fall or the not-too-distant future... i am nervous and a little uneducated... I am following a training plan but still feel a little like a fish out of water! Hoping to hear from some "marathon green horns" going through the same thing!

What is your current training program? That will help with what advice people can offer. I've done several HM - some I've trained for and some, well.... let's just say I wasn't as prepared.

    What's your current training program?

I ran my first last Sept. & exactly 1 year later I'm gonna run my ninth! I ran a full marathon about 8 months ago, too! I'm 40 years old & I've never been athletic in my life. Up until 2 years ago (when I started running) I was 40 pounds overweight. I think the most motivating thing for me is training for races. It can be very addicting! One thing, information wise, that has helped me is I got a subscription to Running World magazine. It has some great info. for beginners & runners of all levels. They have a website, too. Good luck with your training!

I have done a 1/2 MArathon but I walked it. I am signed up for another in November and the Rock N Roll 1/2 Marathon in February. I will walk run them....I can't imagine being able to run more than a mile at a time!!!! But who knows maybe I can:wink: I just started a running101 group last week. I went for a run today!!! Ok a run walk. They are having us run 1 min walk 2mins - 7 times. I did it 8 times and I know I ran longer than 1 minute. I ended up doing 4 miles. It was fun!!!

I was using a plan I found on runner's world's website. I run Tues/ Thurs/ Sat/ Sun. Long runs on Sundays (I did my long run today because I got a little off track with the holiday weekend- 8 miles). I am trying to get in some cross training on my days off but I work a lot and have a young son so my time so my time is limited and precious! I just really need focus and support. And certainly welcome advice and any "pearls" of experienced wisdom

    Thanks!
