Okay, so my favorite artists/musicians/bands are (in no particular order):

-The Shins
-The Beatles
-Coldplay
-Sia
-Vampire Weekend
-KT Tunstall
-Muse
-Red Hot Chili Peppers

In other words, NOT Rap music. However, every once in a while I'll hear a Rap song on the radio that I actually don't hate, or even one that I actually like! This time, though, it's more than just a song; It's an entire album! And I don't like it...I LOVE it!

It is the album "Watch the Throne" by Kanye West and Jay-Z.

I can't get enough and I can't explain why.

Does anyone else have something similar to this? Like, a genre you can't stand but there's that ONE artists or that ONE song that you love?

I don't know, I like everything. I have everything from the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater, to Posion, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Bullet for my Valentine, My Chemical Romance, DMX, Notorious BIG, TI, Ludacris, Snoop Dog, and the soundtrack to Phantom of the Opera. LOL
  • I'm with you Paula. I've never been a rap fan but over the past couple of years, I've found a few songs that I like and now I have a VERY eclectic mix on my iPod. Lots of variety now and variety is good!!

Yes, as a music lover, I can't say I hate any particular genre. If anything, country would probably be at the bottom of my favorites, but there are still many country songs I absolutely love. I don't pick favorites, and I don't discriminate.

The one thing I will say about hip-hop is that everything kinda sounds alike, there isn't any one artist that stands out to me.

I'm pretty much the same as you and PBT. Sometimes the rap songs I do listen to get me pumped up better for some reason.

Same. I like music from EVERY genre. And while I don't care for country overall, I love Taylor Swift to pieces.

I can't stand pop, but I have no problem watching Katy Perry videos with the volume off. Does that count as the same kind of thing?

I was talking about that with a friend the other day. It's got to be just that he's built this image up as an angry white guy, and he can't change it at this point. I mean, he's fabulously wealthy, made all his dreams come true...there's no way he's really that mad.

Right? He's rich and can get all the help he needs for him and his daughter. He's famous and 1 of 3 successful white rappers. Take a pill and sing something happy *kitten*.

I've been listening to heavier music (Meshuggah, Tesseract, etc...) lately but I am schizophrenic with my music. I need a full CD book in the car, or my iPhone loaded with songs whenever I go somewhere. Sometimes I spend more time skipping songs to get to whatever mood I am in than actually listening :)

Tesseract, HELM, Mother Mother, One Day As A Lion, Red Fang, The Sword, Twelve Foot Ninja, Wintersleep, Periphery, Baroness, Closure in Moscow, Death Cab For Cutie, Dead Letter Circus, Fair To Midland, Floating Me, Gotye, Imogen Heap, Lacrymae, Meshuggah, Cog, Butterfly Effect, Karnivool, Deftones, Thrice, Lamb Of God, Heavy Weight Champ, Isis, Mastodon, Porcupine Tree, Mercenary, Gyroscope, Tool, Jeff Buckley, Muse, Foo Fighters, Opeth, Beatles, Wu-Tang Clan, Soilwork, A Perfect Circle, Ben Harper, Silverchair, Wolfmother, Something For Kate, Bullet For My Valentine, Nathan Gaunt, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, My Vitriol, Pearl Jam, Powderfinger, Radiohead, QOTSA, Kyuss, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Tea Party, Onyx, John Butler, Korn, Metallica, John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Eat World, Jack Johnson, Incubus, Grinspoon, Rage Against The Machine, Shihad, System Of A Down, Brother Love.

Some Australian artists on there that you may or may not have heard that I encourage you to check out are:
    Karnivool
    Floating Me
    Shihad (New Zealand actually)

Going to sift through the unknown names on all of your lists and see what new gems I can find.

Most DJs are music lovers. You are a different breed from other people.
