I know some of us on here are grad students and/or other young professionals, and dressing fashionably can be tough on a budget. I used to visit Academichic.com for ideas, but they have recently stopped regularly posting.

Fortunately, a great friend of mine who just received her doctorate has started her own fashion blog (she lives in Sweden but as been posing in English more recently): http://fourseasonsonewardrobe.wordpress.com/

In the last 6 months I've really taken to wearing dresses and skirts because pants were just not practical with continual weight loss (and fluctuations). My main sources of clothing were thrift shops and places like Target, Ross, ect. I donate all my old clothes, and pick out smaller ones :D

I broke down the other day and bought some cheap jeans from target, but I already know that once I get going again on my new workout plan, they will only last me a couple months :/

What have you done to stay on top of dressing professionally while losing weight?
What are some of your favorite fashion blogs?

Totally seconding this. I'm too much like my dad when it comes to shopping and creating a style. Definitely in need of some education before I buy a much needed new wardrobe. The only fashion site I've been on much before is alreadypretty.

Before graduate school, my friends would have definitely called me a tom boy. I wore dresses for special events, though most other times it was jeans and t-shirts. But wanting to make good impressions in the professional world has meant reevaluating my wardrobe. Academic fashion blogs have really helped!

That being said, I do pick up tips from my best friend (who is a frashionista) and from magazines, tv, ect and try to make it every-day friendly.
