Hi, here I go starting over again :( I have started over and failed so many times, I hope that I can do it this time. I know that I would feel happier if I could get my weight under control. I will be sailing along, sticking to program and all of a sudden I get the munchies. I start eating and just don't stop. The whole time I am pigging out I am reminding myself Hey this is un doing all the good choices I made today and still I keep eating. I am stuck in a dark place. I feel bloated, defeated, and gross. This time needs to be the last time I start this over. I know it needs to be a life style change that I can live with. I have changed my goal to trying to lose 1 pound a week instead of 2. I have this all or nothing thing stuck in my head. Once I have one thing I shouldn't have then its, well I blew it so might as well keep eating. I could really use some emotional support. Most of the time that I am eating to stuff myself its because I am either stressed or bored. I know this but just can't stop myself. I cancelled my physical with my doctor for the 3rd time, because why, because I am embaressed by my weight. HELP :embarassed:

Make little goals for yourself everyday instead of just looking at the big one (exp. today I will drink 2L of water, today I will eat fruits and veggies for snacks, etc). Otherwise, it can seem overwhelming. Also, one thing that was VERY psychologically helpful to me was to write a contract with myself listing all of my goals and the things that I was going to do to achieve them. I physically wrote out the contract, signed and dated it, and stuck it on my fridge. Every time I would reach out for something not in my contract, I would remember the promise that I made to myself and most of the time, that kept me from cheating . :) Speaking of cheating, allow yourself to cheat sometimes, otherwise, it will be difficult to keep it up. Good luck!

Welcome- I too am new, just started today. I think that with support, friends and being gentle with ourselves that we can be successful. Being gentle with ourselves means recognizing that what we did yesterday doesn't matter- what we do right now, in this moment is what matters. Also, forgiving ourselves- for me this is the hardest as well as accepting that we are worth it. It's okay to be successful as we deserve it just as much as the person down the road. This time will be different- I will not eat away my emotions or starve myself because of yesterday. Have a treat occasionally...

The tools here seem really great and the message boards seem like a great idea as well.

Dancing Ve- I love the idea of the contract- I might work on that this afternoon.

    Hello,
I really commend you for having the courage to post your struggle with starting over. So many of us do understand and I have done it many times myself. As others have said, don't beat yourself up and start to look at the small ways to change things. Pick one thing this week and another next week and so on. For instance, if hunger and snacking is one thing that throws you off, make that a priority. find things that satisfy you but fit within your calorie goals and perhaps fat gram goals. Fruits and veges in some portable form, pretzels, mini rice cakes and other snacks already prepared and measured can really be a help. also try to eat something with lower fat protein every few hours as that will help with hunger.

There are many others who probably have great advice but perhaps you need to just start one place and move forward. That is what helped me. Keeping a food diary even when you don't like how your day went, is a good thing. find the parts of the day and the areas of nutrition that you need to change and go from there. it is all good because you are doing something to make your life better. You will get there.
