SUCCESS!!!

I've been trying forever to think of a way to eat tuna without gagging.. I figured it out and it doesn't require any mayo :)

  • But... I like the tuna taste! I'm not sure what the point of eating a food is if you're going to cover it up. But please share your recipe!

What flavor Mrs Dash?? There are several. My fav is Onion & Herb or Garlic & Herb. Garlic & tuna is nasty though. I think I will just stick with M'whip & onions!

Tuna is a fish that for the most part, should be avoided anyway, so who cares? It's full of mercury and if it's canned it's full of BPA. Mercury is a heavy metal that gets stored in your brain and doesn't get flushed out. BPA is a form of plastic that is so toxic it's been banned in other countries and is beginning to be banned from baby products in certain states.

If you want to eat fish you should only eat sustainably harvested cold water fish since they have the least amount of toxins in them.

My wife fixed some tuna salad this weekend. Finely chopped celery, onion, and pickles. Didn't want to mess up the calories by adding a boiled egg, but it's usually in there too -- again finely chopped.
Stir up with mustard instead of mayo.
I could eat a ton of it.

not a pickle and tuna girl.. or egg/mustard either. but so glad you love it!!

I like that I don't have to add mayo whether light or not. mrs. dash has nothing in it so it's a win for me.

the original one is the one I used.

I love tuna, but not canned. I buy fresh tuna and just do a light sear on it. If I want to make a "tuna salad" I cook it just a bit more, chop it into cubes, add some beans, (black, white or garbanzo beans-(I buy dried, soak them and then cook them myself) , low sodium cottage cheese, chopped fresh parsley and either lemon pepper or another Mrs. Dash flavor. So Yummy and can have it with so many things, soy crackers, whole grain bread, in lettuce cups, in a wrap and on and on!

Fresh express salad, with a can of drained tuna, then Ken's steak house light creamy caesar! Works for me every time!!

i've learned to like tuna but i can't eat it alone. i found this online - mix the little 80 calorie tuna cups w light mayo and shredded cheddar cheese.. put in the microwave and then i use it as a dip w celery sticks, carrott sticks, and wheat thins. SO GOOD.
  • I make my tuna salad with a can of tuna, an mashed up avocado and some chopped up cucumber...it's SO delicious! It's high in fat though because of the avocado, but if you didn't use a whole avocado or if it was divided into 4 portions it's not bad, and it's totally worth it!
