I don't hardly know what to do about my calories burned. I did the 3 mile walk with Leslie Sansone this morning. For 45 min. of cardio and strength exercises it showed 127 the other day but this morning it only said 56 calories burned. I made a real effort to keep my heart rate up . I was sweating when I got through. So, I don't know whether just to pick something else out like walking 3.0 walking the dog . I have the timex HRM and a lot of people says it overestimates the burn.I don't want to put too many calories down but I don't want to cheat myself either. :-)

My thinking on this is a little different than most.

I keep track of what I eat. I do NOT keep track of exercise. Why? Two reasons: 1) it is my opinion that most exercise 'calories burned' on this site are wildly inflated, and 2) I don't want to be in the mindset that if I burn a few extra calories, I get to EAT a few extra calories. I want to learn to control my eating habits, including the amount I eat and not be playing games with myself. You know, the "if I want to eat that Snickers bar I have to go out and walk for 7 miles" type thinking.

That being said, if I DO put in a day of hard labor (not my usual day) to where I have a ravenous appetite at dinner as a result, then I will record enough exercise to cover the extra calories. How is this different? Because the extra appetite was a RESULT of the work - not the work was being done so I can eat more. A subtle difference, but a healthy one in learning to eat without overeating.
