Broken Collarbone. Need help to stay on track

Hey there!
I broke my collarbone 3 weeks ago and have been in a sling ever since. I have gained a little bit of movement, so I began doing the stationary bike at the gym. BUT, now I need to have surgery to fix it, so I will be back to no exercise. I need help and suggestions as to how to eat healthy while I am laid up for a while. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any suggestions for what I should/could do while I am recovering?
I will do my best to eat healthy during this time, but my body really depends on diet AND exercise. I know that I need to let myself recover or else I will just make it worse, but if anyone has any tips, I would appreciate them!
Thanks!
Jackie

Ouch! Can you do some fast walking? I assume no running, but maybe walking would be ok?0

this past march i got in a really bad car accident and I sprained my right shoulder, wrist and thumb. So I lifted weights on my left arm (my non hurt arm) I also went to the gym and did exercises that focused on the legs like the different leg machines....I was told by my doctors to not use the elliptical, stairmaster, or bike since it would upset the shoulder....but I did use the treadmill and did very slow/light walks0

I work in ortho-trama and I will say that you should follow your Dr. recomendations. esp. if you need to have surgery. You could be looking at 8wks off. I would 't consider going back to the gym until after you have completed physical therapy.0
