Eating healthy on the road...

Ok. So my job has me out on the road very often and I can't carry all the good healthy foods with me all the time. Are there any lists out there of "healthier" food choices for fast food places??
I usually try to eat sensibly when traveling by avoiding fried or heavy foods but It seems so difficult when there is so little from which to choose.

i always go to grocery stores when i'm on the road and pick whatever I please from the produce department!
even mc donald's oatmeal and subway are laden with garbage....nothing fast is healthy0 -
Most fast food joints have a salad option. Or a chicken sandwich hold the mayo and cheese. Fish sandwiches are good too. Avoid fried anything, heavy cheese, and fatty condiments like mayo and ranch.0

What I did was get on the websites of the places you eat at and download and print off the nutritional/calorie pages they have then keep them in your car or with you. That's the biggest piece of advise I can tell you and it works well. The other thing I can say is don't assume that salads are nutritional as some of them can have as much as 700 calories! If you want to add me feel free and that'll give you access to my diary.
A few of my favories:
Carl's Jr. - Teriyaki Turkey Burger
Del Taco - Macho Taco
Mcdonalds - Asian Grilled Chicken Salad0 -
When you can, plan ahead. Pack a little soft cooler lunch/dinner. When you have to eat out, just try and make healthier choices I guess. Like a poster mentioned above, most places offer a salad....but to be honest, not all salads are a good option either. Be mindful of whats on the salad and what kind of dressings you use. When you are forced to eat fast food Chipotle and Subway can potentially be good options.....they can also be terrible options too. It just depends on how and what you order. For instance, when I eat Chipotle I get a bowl and substitute the rice for lettuce. Then I get onions and peppers, ask for a small portion of chicken, tomato salsa and a small portion of guacamole. The calorie content with my order comes in around 350-400 calories. At subway I usually get a veggie delight salad with Italian dressing dressing. Sometimes I will get the Veggie delight sandwich with no cheese and mustard or Italian dressing. Both options are going to be loaded with sodium (youre going to be hard pressed to find fast food that isn't)....but these things are better then a greasy burger and fries.
Basically, just be mindful of what you are ordering and how big the portions are. If it's at all possible to pack your meals, doit! Also keep healthy snacks with you in the car at all times.0
