Nutrition labels need potassium!

Seriously is there a reason that food companies aren't required to print potassium numbers? Given the rampant issues in the health of the general population that can be attributed to sodium, one would think it would be a no-brainer to make it easier for people to keep track of the yin to their sodium yang.

I know no one here can help me on this; it's really just a vent/rant ;)

I am SO with you... I have been known to update entries by checking out the numbers in the USDA database for single ingredient foods (Peanut butter anyone) and doing the math for serving sizes.

I agree. Not long ago there was a threat called the big potassium project that aimed at asking people to please add the potassium info when you log new foods. you can search for it.

I get super excited whenever a label actually has it. I so wish it was required!

It seems to me that some of the "potassium power foods" tend to print it, likely because it's a bragging right for them. Spinach, for instance, is a monster for Potassium, and most packaged spinach seems to have it on the label as a result.

I recently found it on a peanut butter jar which was surprising. It was even dollar store peanut butter!
