miles on an excersize bike?

My excersize bike doesn't go in miles. Last night I rode the bike 30 minutes, burned 400 calories - the speed averaged 27 (i don't know the unit) and the distance said 12.5. What are the units used on an excersize bike? I want to know when I've done 3 miles. Does anyone how to calculate this?
