Intermittent Fasting

Ok so I want to pick some brains...
I was reading online at www.myomytv.com about IF. Fasting from 8pm-12pm every day and exercising during the fast burns body fat, not calories consumed so you lose fat quicker. Has anyone tried this? Is it more effective than just counting calories and eating around the clock? Thoughts? I'm seriously considering trying this - although I wake up starving. I have probably only about 5-10 lbs of fat to lose. I have some "pudge" all over and if I were to tone my muscles, not all of them could be seen, especially in my midsection. I've been counting calories and my weight loss is stalled.

Not sure what to tell ya about the fasting, I don't think i could do it!! But something that helps me when I stall is to change my work out routine up...change the kindof cardio you do or add some more strength training. Changing the routine that your body has gotten used to will boost some loss!!0

I think there is an ongoing thread about this somewhere. Try doing a search. There is a group of people on here who are quite knowledgeable about it and I bet they will be able to answer your questions.0

I practice IF daily. In fact EVERYONE DOES. They just don't realize it. There's a reason the first meal of the morning is called BREAK-FAST. Extended fasting, however, is a different matter. I try to keep my eating window from noon to 6p, creating an 18 hour IF. Once a month I do a 24 hour fast. I do feel like I reap benefits from it. It's good to allow one's body the chance to digest all the goodies from the day before.0

Found it for you. There are a few other threads that come up in the search, too.0 -
There's a great thread about it that you can find here that should be able to answer the questions

Also, you could check out Eat Stop Eat or www.leangains.com for more information (what you are referring to sounds a lot like the Lean Gains philosophy) and I have been using it for about a month with my strength training program. I enjoy it very much!!
If I could help at all, send me a message or add me as a friend0 -
I have but not to 'lose' weight .... exactly. I do this 'cure' when my fluctuating weight is over a certain amount of pounds to return me on the 'path' to weight-loss..... and I don't do it every day... no, no. But I have found that it keeps me 'trim' and healthy and 'clean'.... like when you 'detox'. However, I begin my fast around 2 pm to 6 am simply because it works best for me. As long as you go 16 hours without eating, I don't think it matters where you place them. All I know is that I need coffee in the morning... know what I'm saying?:drinker:0
