Pain when walking/jogging

I used to have this ongoing dilemma when i was younger. It went away but has started up again recently and have no idea what is happening.
Basicalle, ill start my walk/jog (cause lets face it, ill never run!) and after a while, the muscle on the lower outter side of lef (Tibialis Interior) really starts to get painful and is proving difficult to even walk. If kinda feels like the muscle is stretching to its ultimate limit is not bouncing back making my leg feel like theres a wooden post, or metal bar. It feels super heavy too.
Does anyone experience this, or have any ideas as to what it is and, most importantly, how to get RID OF IT!!!
Any comments would help. Thanks in advance!

I've had that experience and had to get orthotics. Leg exercises which improve flexibility also helped.0

It is likely that you are agitating a case of tendinitis. I have this same issue, except mine is also swollen and the doctor told me on Friday that it is acute tendinitis accompanied by bone spurs. I was advised to not jog or run for a very long time to allow the muscles to heal. I may never jog again, but, then again, I'm not much of a jogger. I'd rather be on the elliptical.
I would strongly advise you to see your doctor. He or she may be able to guide you in the right direction. The only way to help this feeling go away is by building up the muscles that surround the painful area to assist in supporting that part of your body. Yes, it sucks, but it is what it is. For me, it's hereditary. My dad has several joints that have acute tendinitis, so this was not a huge surprise to me.
Good luck0 -
It is very possible you have hypertension in your tibialis interior. A lot physical activity and pressure will eventually make the muscle naturally tense. Something I could recommend is getting a professional massage and then giving it about a day of rest. I tend to get very tight in my left calf (dunno if its the same muscle you're having trouble with) and a massage really does wonders.0

I'd see a doctor and/or physiotherapist for a proper diagnosis.
While it could be shin splints, I am concerned that shin splints pain usually subsides after a few minutes of exercise. It sounds like the pain continues for the duration of the workout?
Until you can get to see a doctor, I would recommend Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. Don't continue to exercise until you have seen a medical doctor (preferably one who specializes in sports injuries)0 -
I get the same thing!!
I have no idea what it is, but I hate it. I've been meaning to got to my GP to find out more, but after excersice it's more tight than painful.
Had a massage on the weekend, and it felt completely better... until I exercised on Monday.
Let me know if you get it checked out and I'll let you know if I happen to go the doctor.0 -
PLEASE go to the doctor. People can only give guesses on here and no-one is really qualified to say what it is. Go to your doctor and they can let you know.
Hope it feels better soon!0
