Best help for a knee injury?

Hi everyone....hoping someone can offer advice. I was riding the stationary bike and noticed my knee was popping a lot. After I got off it felt strange...not pain, exactly, just like something was out of place. It continued to feel like that the rest of the day. Today I did the elliptical for a half-hour and didn't notice anything weird, but as soon as I stepped on the ground, my knee really hurt. Now it feels like something is out of place, and there's a lot of pain. It even hurts when I touch it in one spot and feels like it may be a bit swollen. I have it up now with a bag of frozen peas on it, but I'd appreciate any other advice. I'm so bummed - for the first time in my life I'm enjoying exercise, and now this. TIA!

See a chiropractor or your doctor. It could be inflammation, a pulled muscle..best to check it out.0

RICE
Rest
Ice
Compress
Elevate
If the pain persists after a couple of days, go see a doctor.0 -
My knee did that when I got my severe sprain to my MCL. The next day when I tried to get out of bed I fell on my face because my knee wouldn't support my weight and hurt so bad. I waited a week to see a doctor to see if it would go away on its own but it didn't. I had to get an MRI and was out from physical activity and sports for 3 months.0

Yeah, I would check it out with your doctor. I fell down a year ago exactly and hurt my right knee..it's never been the same.. and when I go up stairs it sometimes pops. However I find that when i take Glucosamine and Chondroitin and/or Shark Cartilage it helps so much.0

It could be a ligament or cartilage issue. I tore my ACL, and minor tear on MCL years back. Have you had a previous injury that may have kicked up now?
I'd see a sports medicine doctor, he can either evaluate it in-office with a series of movements, might send you to an x-ray, if not clear, MRI would be needed to really see what's going on. In the meantime, RICE is your best friend.0 -
Pain is usually a bad thing. It could mean anything from stressing the muscle (good thing) so it can grow more and gain capacity and strength. OR, it could mean some kind of damage. If you have swelling associated with the pain, do not ignore it! Elevate, ice, Ibuprofen or something to reduce inflammation. And go see your primary care physician, or call and seek their counsel.
I speak from experience, because i'm currently going through a knee injury (because i fell down the stairs)... but also as an EMT. Just sayin. I don't normally throw the medical card out there tho. It is what it is...
SO, i fell down the stairs after my knee let go, and landed on the knee. Mine's been swelling and painful and feels like my kneecap is loose or "floating". After going to the ER after falling, they referred me to an Orthopedic specialist.
Yada Yada Yada, don't ignore it if there's pain and swelling. Sometimes rest is the solution, but sometimes its best to find out what the Dr thinks.

Doctor, doctor, doctor. If I had seen my doctor instead of teaching on a partially torn ACL, I may have never had a torn ACL, torn meniscus and worn cartilage. Now I've had 2 knee surgeries and osteoarthritis. Err on the cautious side.0

I've had a meniscus tear, and finally had to have surgery. My knee would pop sometimes too.
I'd see a specialist, for sure. The surgery I ended up having was done arthoscopically, three tiny 1/2 inch incisions, less than a week of down time, and back to work on my feet about 10 days later.0 -
I have suffered this sort of problem for a long time, and now I have 2 knee replacements. The best thing is what you are doing already plus rest till swelling reduces also anti-inflammortories such as ibrufen or diclofenac or naproxyn from your doctor or chemist should reduce the swelling but the main thing is rest.Sounds as though youve got fluid there if its swollen.0

See a doctor.
I have been using this and it helps.
I had the popping weakness and pain.
With rest it has got a lot better.
