spinning like a child(not as in spinning classes) in a clockwise motion to help you lose weight? I was reading about this online and kind of curious if anyone else knew anything about this or had tried it. Yes, I am desperate. lol

Sounds like nonsense to me. Sure if you spin around you'll burn some Calories but you'll also get dissy and nauseous which can't be a good thing.
I'm sure there are better ways to exercise.0 -
I concur. That would make me dizzy! And dizzy isn't as fun for an adult as it is for a child. :laugh:0

I have never heard of this before. Do you spin until you vomit? How is this supposed to work?0

well if i did it after eating, it would make me vomit so in that theory could work0 -
I would definitely ask a doctor first. Adult brains are not adapted for excessive G-force. Something like that could rupture an undetected aneurysm or anything.
I don't even ride roller coasters anymore and I LOVE them but they can kill you.0 -
I know it would work for me because after about two times around I would throw up!
I am dizzy just thinking about it :sick:0 -
I think this would work only because as adults we lose the idea of fun physical activities. If you want to lose weight do what a 10 year old does (those who have not been over exposed to TV and games that is!). Its all about moving and having fun. I don't think it has to be spinning in particular.
I've started spinning, doing cartwheels, front rolls ect with my kids as they've gotten older and although it started out brutal it is actually a fun, good workout. I was disgusted to find I couldn't even do the monkey bars anymore. When do we lose that ability? Those used to be easy for me.0 -
LOL, ok, ok, got the point. It said in the article you were supposed to do it until you felt slightly dizzy once a day and that it would help with weight loss. I thought it sounded silly and no, I haven't actually done it, but I was just curious if anyone else had heard of this. Thanks for your feedback everyone:)0

Thanks KerriKnox, I hear what you're saying.0

Spinning (slowly) in a clockwise direction is a particular exercise in some branch of yoga...
it is actually quite good for balance, keeping your inner ear stable, and is good for a bunch of other stuff that yoga things are good for. Don't recall hearing anything about it directly affecting weightloss, however.
Work your way up, slowly and carefully, to 25 revolutions. It won't hurt you if you don't fall into something!0 -
Thanks Raevynn, I've only done yoga a few times so I don't know much about it. Thanks for the info. I really didn't think it would hurt me, I just didn't know if I'd be wasting my time. lol I don't think I'll fall but if I do, my kids will all probably get a good laugh out of it. Maybe it's something we could go outside and do together and make a game of on nice days, who knows? lol0
