A decent pair of headphones?

I need some new headphones and would appreciate advice. I've tried the super cheap ones and they just don't last. I don't like the ipod wht ones because they hurt my ears and seem to fall out all the time. Husband likes the kind that curl around your ears and I've borrowed them but they also fall out continuously. The only ones, I've ever really liked are the earmuff kind, which were fine back in 1997 when I was on the raver diet but as it's 2011 and I'm an adult, I would feel silly.

bump. If you can get suggestions on good ones, I am with you. None of them seem to fit quite right or are comfortable.

What's wrong with the earmuff ones? They sound way better, and they are more comfortable... win win!

I have a pair of skull candy Ti headphones and love them, if you don't want ones quite as big they have a line of smaller ones, and I have a friend who has a pair of 'beats' by Dr. Dre? I think and loves them...
  • I have the Bose silicone ear phones. Although they sound wonderful, when you sweat, the silicone gets wet and they slip out!
  • Actually the ear muff type are nice. Beats by Dr.Dre are really nice. Beats come in earbud style and headphones. They sell them at RadioShack and Target, Best Buy, etc. Skulls sound okay.

I didn't have much luck with the skull candy ones they broke after like a month. I have really small ear's so it's hard for me to find some but I just bought a pair of sony earbuds they were $15.00 at Target and they came with two different sizes of the little soft part that goes over the actual bud so you can pick which is most comfortable, the sound is great too!

I love the Sony ones that go in your ears but they still have the band that goes on your head. I got mine at Target for about $10. The model # is MDR-W08. I just replaced mine and I had them for years!

  • Forgot about HeartBeats by Lady Gaga from the Beats by Dr. Dre line. :)

Bose! The ones with the black and white cords that you see everyone wearing. I put them through ridiculous cardio, strength training, and even plyometrics with all kinds of jumping around and they never move. Plus the ear tips come in three sizes so you can fit them best. Ok, yes, they are $100. BUT, they have 1 year warranty, and when you get a new pair (they typically wear down in a year anyway) they start the one year warranty all over again. They are SO worth the money - I'm on my 3rd pair in three years. They are the best and I'll probably never use anything else.

I've had the annoying problem of earphones falling out my ears and them nit fitting comfortably for years.

I finally found a pair of Sony in ear noise cancelling earphones that fit perfectly and don't fall out. They have the detachable rubber grips that hold the speaker in your ear. Cost me apprx £60.00.

I would suggest these. I work in the audio business, in particular with headphone and have listened to a lot of headphones from all the major players. I have found if you want good quality sound as well as good value the Sennhesier are great to go for. Monster ones, like the dr. Dre's or the gaga's are more about the brand than the quality and can break quite easily.

It is ultimately down to your personal preference and how much you can spend and what kind of music you listen to. Just my 2 cents. Having said that I use a pair of JVC gumy air for my training as I like cheap and cheerful - and blue!

Cheap (20 bucks) but Sony quality and I use them for my exercising and sleeping and they stay in place.
  • I like the kind that go in your ear. I used to use Skullcandy Ink'd but after having 3 pairs have the wire break inside so that the sound only came out of one side, I've given up (gonna send the last pair back and make them give me a new one though), I am now trying Sony (still goes in your ear) and so far so good. But then it's only been 3 days.
