Soreness

I have been running/walking and doing Jillians 30DS for over a month now nearly every day. I take one day off a week. My calves are killing me! I do the stretches that Jillian does on her DVD every time I work out and warm up before hand. How long does it take for the soreness to let up a bit. I am just pushing through it right now and taking Ibuprofen when needed, usually bedtime. Any advice or insight?

Your shoes could be the problem. I have been reading a little bit about running and the types of shoes etc. I've determined that I am what is called an overpronator. Meaning I walk on the insides of my shoes basically which can cause shin/calf pain. Just thought I would let you in on what I have learned for myself.

I have no answer here, but I am interested in the answer.

I had a trainer tell me that the soreness is basically your body building muscle, so it is a good thing. Not sure if I like or buy that one!

If you need ibuprofen, maybe cut down on some of the running or jogging... Just slow it down a little.

Or maybe take baths? That always helps my muscle aches.

Stretch longer! Check youtube for ideas.
  • It very well could be my shoes. I don't have "running" shoes. Just some Keens, that are really light weight, but not specifically for running. Maybe I need to go shopping, and get a hot tub. lol
