In June I finally got round to the scary task of weighing myself after a year or so of not doing it and found that I was 11st4, classed at overweight fr my height (5ft 4) and realized I needed to do something about it!

I went to the gym on average 4 times a week and tried to cut back a lot of crisps/chocolate but was finding it very difficult due to living with the boyfriend and enjoying over sized meals. By over sized I mean more than twice the size of a normal meal, no wonder I had put on so much weight! Whilst still living with him I found it very difficult to cut back because it was difficult watching him eat large portions and not want some too.

I have had to move home (a week ago to be exact) to my Mum's as have graduated University now and rent for the summer had finished but without a job I cannot move out and find my own place yet. Since being home though, I have been eating normal portion sizes, drinking more and making healthier smaller choices of food which i can feel a bit of a difference already with regards to my weight.

When I first weighed myself I was 11st 4, when I weighed myself this morning the scales said 10st 2, although more stable-y I am more like 10st 4 at the moment. I am hoping to lose enough weight to be on the slim side of my BMI reading. I am prepared to put the effort in, and my diet I feel has improved tenfold, but I cannot afford to go to a gym, cannot run and realize if i want to continue to lose weight I need to incorporate exercise into my daily routine to keep losing weight. Ideally I will lose another stone by Christmas/New year then by my birthday next year be more around 8stone, although I realize I'll probably get to 9 and feel like I've done enough. To finally be able t fit into a size 10 jeans would be an absolute dream. I tried on a size 14 that fit well today, next step is a comfortable 12, then ideally a 10!

I've never joined something like this before, but any tips or advice would be very much appreciated!! The rest of my family are slim and i feel silly talking about it with them.

Thanks in advance, sorry i waffled on for so long! xx

    Welcome aboard!

I'd guess that 8 stone would be a bit light for your height, but you've got the right idea to take it in stages and see how you feel. And clothes size is more important than the number on the scale, so its good you've set that as a target too.

Exercise at home is certainly possible - google for a few ideas off YouTube, or get a DVD.
