Boxing with a HRM- HELP!

My husband and I went out and got some boxing gloves and mouth guards with the intent of doing a little sparring for a good workout. We are waiting on the delivery of our bag stand and bags at the moment. My main question is this: how can I use my Polar FT4 HRM to track it? I set the wristband on the table while we sparred, and it said I burned 0 calories, even though it was tracking my heart rate at 152 when I stopped it, and we boxed long enough it should have tracked something. Does the wristband need to be closer to me, perhaps tied on my sports bra strap since I can't put it on under my glove?
Any advice would be super!

yea it needs to be closer to the transmitter. maybe put it around your bra in the back where it won't get punched.0
