Logging sodium added to cooked food?

I looked at my sodium in Reports and it was very low - that's when I realized that there's hidden salt in my homecooked meals that I haven't been logging. I'm big on cooking (except in the last week cause my husband was goe) and usually use at least a little salt in seasoning. Do you guys log these "hidden" salts?

I don't see how that's hidden salt? It's the least hidden kind of sodium. Considering just a 1/4tsp has 590mg of sodium, I say you need to log that.
  • I don't log it but I am aware of it. 590mg sodium in 1/4 tsp.

I try to always log my sodium. This made me realize how dang much I was consuming. It has also changed my cooking habits to where I almost never add salt. Still, I'm over on sodium some pretty much everyday. It's a challenge.
    good luck!

Snarky much? It's hidden because it's not in the MFP entries - for example when I enter beef stew the added salt is not included the way it is for a lean cuisine type of meal entry.
Thanks for the useful info you added at the end though :)

If you are cooking things from scratch are you using the recipe building here on MFP? That way you can enter all your own ingredients and amounts instead of relying on random entries in the database which may not match your own recipe.

No I wasn't using the recipe builder - I keep forgetting about it plus I've been cooking so long it just kind of comes naturally after a while. I mean I don't have my recipes written down. I add the ingredients from the database which is really cumbersome so maybe I'll use the recipe builder. I'm careful with entering all my ingredients except the salt. Thanks for reminding me of recipe builder.
