any low sodium lunch and dinner ideas for a big family

:indifferent: ive proably asked or saw this question before on here but here goes again i cant decided on ideas to pak for my lunch and my fiancees and kids lunches during the week besides chicken and they are getting tired of that lol I need to lower my sodium levels alot they are to high i thinkj i dont even know what they should be mine are set at 2500 is that to high??

    Your topic caught my eye. I am very sodium conscious and have sent you a friend request. Would be happy to take a look at your food journal and offer some more specific suggestions, but first of all....2500 is probably fine as long as you do not have HPB. I have mine set at 2500 and hardly ever get nearly that high. secondly, don't know if you rely heavily on packaged, pre-made meals but if you do, they are laden with salt and/or sugar. If you are eating low or non-fat foods, they have added sugar and salt because they need to add in something for flavor when the fat is removed. I go with regular foods, just alot less of it. Stick with your lean proteins, fruits, veggies and complex carbohydrates. thirdly, learn to read labels if you don't already do this. As you are logging your foods you can see where your sodium culprits really are, then try and figure out what you can use instead, example: canned vegetables -substitute fresh steamed or oven roasted vegetables, fresh potatoes instead of frozen hashbrowns, french fries etc. That should give you some good info to start with.
  • Thank you and i have been using fast foods like the pre pakaged ones cause of our schedules i know not a good excuse but tomorrow when i go grocery shoppin for the week im making a lot more fresh meals and freezing them for the week Im goin to look in the reciepe section on here to see if i can find any more to keep triing i hae thrown out all of the junk food and told the kiddos no more goin through mcdonalds and wendys when were out if we are goin out to eat its a healthy resturant only they are throwing a fit but they will get over it lol Its time we get healthy i have been seriously sick for the last three years and now im ready to finish kicking my illness in the butt Thank u again :drinker:
