When i wasn't working out as much i found it easier to watch my calories and keep them under control. Now that i am doing both cardio and strength training my hunger has doubled and i am constantly hungry.....i know i am burning more calories but geesh i really feel like i could easily put away 3000 calories no problem some days. Is this normal? Cause there have been days lately that i want to eat everything........any advise?

Since ur working out more, you're burning more. Sounds like your metabolism has picked up. It's good to track your exercise calories burned because they're added to your allotment and you can eat those too. I try to eat only a portion of them myself. Remember... just so long as you're eating healthy stuff you can eat a pretty good amount. It's the fatty, sodium, sugar filled processed food that will do you wrong.

I don't know how normal it is, but if it makes you feel better, I've been crazy hungry lately, too. I've been doing more strength as of late and the hunger never ends. I'm chugging water all day in an effort to curb it, but it's not working, nor is added protein. I'm interested in hearing any ideas.

My husband has been doing weight training for years, I'm just starting. He doesn't eat three meals, he eats 6 to 8 meals, it's almost like he's always eating. Eat more often, stoke your engine continuously. Make wise choices, and it should help.

I'm really glad you asked this.. I try not to eat my workout calories but some nights i feel like i'm going to bed hungry. I've noticed the harder i work the more i feel i need to up my calories.. Maybe if you up your protein it will help.. I started eating an actual meal before my workouts and it helps a bunch.

You guys are awesome, first off. Congratulations on all the hard work! I personally am not a nutritionist or anything, but I definitely like to eat. I find that dry-popped popcorn takes the edge off and it is technically a whole grain and also very low calorie. Three cup is under 100 calories.

SO funny you posted this just now because I think my status tomorrow was going to read: I. AM. HUNGRY.

Not only am I scrambling around here to eat back my calories, but a grocery trip is sorely needed since I'm out of the good foods (veggies, fruits). I'm left with bagels & cream cheese, cereal, and Luna bars. I can't believe I actually want to eat healthier food!

I find that I have been eating little things throughout the day, too, and in checking my weight, I am not far off from what I weighed in this morning. I'm usually two pounds over my morning weight every day. I'd like to think it really is like stoking a fire, as the previous poster mentioned.

So I guess it's a good thing that my metabolism has kicked into full gear. I'd say keep on doing what you're doing, maintain the healthy foods, and you shouldn't go wrong. You're a machine, girl! :)

It is very normal to be hungry when you are working out a lot, especially with weights. After you do weight training, your body utilizes teh ammino acids to repair itself, which requires calories to do so. Also, another thing that has helped me was trying to get complex carbs and protein every time I eat. I eat 7 times a day for reference, sometimes more.
