I've been doing about 60'minutes of exercise a day but recently havent been able to do the same exercises because my right knee and my left ankle have been really sore. I have still been walking (today really hurt) and doing 10-15mins of crunches every day but I'm hoping that some of you have some exercise ideas that won't aggravate my knee and ankle but will still allow me to burn off some cals until I heal.

Get better soon! I had a sprained ankle and was on crutches for 2 weeks. :( 60 min cardio to none....hated it! However, I still did strength training, yoga, and boxing!

I love to swim, low impact, but, good calorie burn.
  • I have bad knees and use a recumbant elliptical. I like it much better than recumbant bikes because it has the arm component to it and I feel like I'm getting a good workout. If you have access to one, I highly recommend it!

If you have a gym available to you, try the elliptical or even swimming! They help change what kind of strain your joints are going through. Also, make sure you are wearing the right shoes. I can't yet afford a good pair of running shoes, and about 40 min into my cardio I can feel the stress on my right knee. Definitely don't push through that... those are legit signs! Cardio will be hard otherwise, but try to do bodyweight exercises with your upper body. Use this time to focus on strength training for the rest of your body!

Thanks for everyone's responses thus far! Sorry, I should have said in my original post that I don't belong to a gym so I am hoping for some at home/outdoor activities that I can do to burn cals and build muscle.
