i went to counseling. i've had 2 really good weeks, so i had nothing bad to talk about. i felt really good. i've been back to working out and counting calories for about a week, i'm working on quitting smoking, i've lost almost 7 lbs... i'm taking a lot of positive steps.

so my counselor hits me with this question:

what are you going to do when you have a bad day?

and i thought to myself, that's a good question. what am i going to do?? it's like i'm always taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back. every time i'm doing good, i slowly fall into the same patterns again. losing motivation, anxiety, depression.

and she gave me the best advice i think i've ever gotten. it really made me think about my weight loss journey, and everything else in my life.

she said something along the lines of this "when you hit a bad day, and it's bound to happen, you have to have a plan. it's life, you can't expect it to always go your way. so when something goes wrong, and you feel like taking those 2 steps back, remember how many steps you've taken forward. do you really want to start over again? don't you want to keep going? you need to remember how much work it took for you to get where you are. ask yourself, "do you really want to quit? don't you want to keep going?"... then take a deep breath, and don't give up. don't let yourself replay those tapes in your head that tell you that you can't do it. you have to throw out those old tapes and play new ones. don't listen to the voice in your head that tells you that you can't"

that was a real eye opener for me. i don't want to go back.. i don't want to have to start this all over again. i want this to be the LAST time so i don't ever have to fall back into the person i used to be. i want to keep being the person that i am right now and doing what i want to do and need to do to keep being happy.

sorry i just wrote a book. i wanted to share so that other people could feel the same way i did when i heard it!

Thats so true, think of where you are at and where you were. Dont step back, run forward. Do extra walking or some exercise. Go for a drive, listen to some music, read a little of your favorite book. You do make it thru that bad day!!!! If I can you can
