New to site, it is very interesting to see the calories in my favorite food Pizza. Definitely helps to make me more aware of what I'm eating. I'm really excited to get started on this journey.

So I love Pizza, what are some of your food cravings and how do you over come?

Also I'm new and could use some friends for support!!!

Replies

  • All foods. I'm a recovering binge eater. I don't care what kind of food it is, I'll eat it.. :blushing:
  • Pizza wow have to be careful but if you check the website as well as your favorite take-out pizza's website on the nutrition guide it will tell you all you need to know. If you really want it plan your day for it and also if you exercise you will get back some of the calories for that day. Some pizza a lot worse than others. if its real greasy probably a nightmare try a different kind. Good Luck:smile:
  • Burritos, tacos, chilis & just about anything Mexican, also sushis, sashimis, callos ala madrileña, paellas & ceviches... Those foods can really make me pig out. Just citing the names of these foods already makes me hungry!

    Hi,

Some foods I just don't keep in the house because I can stop myself from eating them coco pops (cereal) is one thing.

Other thins like pizza i make healthy alternatives for. so for pizza i use mountain bread as a base with light cheese and toppings and just grill it.

my other major craving is chocolate. I've learnt to not deny my self chocolate as it just ends with binging on it later. so I'll just get a small piece and work it off during my work out later :)
  • Pizza is my favorite food too. My husband worked in a pizza / deli restaurant for 13 years. I was able to eat pizza alot. It was terrible. Now, he makes healthy-ish pizza. Fresh from scratch at home pizza with near healthy ingredients. I don't eat it as often as I would like but when he does make it, he makes enough to carry over until the next day. So I get 2 days of pizza then not again for like 2 months. But its worth the wait. And I don't feel bad eating it. :) Good Luck with your pizza journey.

I like pizza, also. Any homemade meat that I make like chicken or fish I crave, although in my mind I try to eat very little meat in my diet.

I've been using this site only a couple months and used to eat a lot more raw fruit until I saw how many calories are in it and even health food things, like raw cacoa nibs were really, really high in calories.

I'm trying to keep drinking water often and keep doing my food log everyday, so I can eat what I want but stop when I see that I am about to reach my limit. I don't really eat what I want (junk-wise) though too often because I end up gaining the next day, probably with salty foods though.

You can add me as a friend!

Recently for me it's been all about the baked goods. Banana bread, brownies, cookies, cake .. it doesn't matter, I've been craving it. Most of the time I try either chewing gum (I swear I'm a gum addict these days) or I just make sure that when people make those around me that I'm not around when they come out of the oven. Or, if I'm having a little bit of a spoil day that I only eat ONE and that's it.

Also, feel free to add me, I'm always happy to support new people. :)

Basically anything bad for me lol. Sugar, carbs, fats in any form just put them together and I a happy camper. I don't buy it for home, if I want it I need to go out and get it. I used to only treat myself once a week if my week was good but fell off the wagon. This was s good reminder though:)
  • Pasta is one.. I now make sure to measure my amounts.. I find I'm still satisfied after eating it, but if I could choose, like I used to.. I'd eat three times the amount! Lol

Hello, I love lollies! I eat them until the inside of my mouth is sore, I'm sure I'd lick spilt sugar up off the floor : )
I haven't overcome my craving, I still have them now and then.
  • Indian take-away. I love a good curry, but they are sooooo high in fat and even sugar. So when we have a curry night I now have half my portion of curry and freeze the rest to take for lunch at work one day, I skip the rice and the chapatis and add some salad out of the fridge to make it look more like a full meal. My other weakness is carbs generally esp bread and potato but as I'm gluten intolerant I don't really eat much bread now, just the gluten free stuff when I really need a fix, but it's not as good as the real thing so I often don't bother!!

Wagamamas... Chicken Gyoza and Chicken Katsu curry.

Its my WHOLE daily allowance though in calories!!!

My way is avoidance, thankfully they dont have loads of restaurants near me so it takes some effort to go there.
  • in n out (west coast fast food restaurant), and right now i'm having a MAJOR craving for any kind of chewy cookie. i just... try to put it out of my mind, and eat regularly so even if i'm still craving the food i'm at least not hungry. but it's so hard sometimes D:

totally doesn't help that i keep clicking on food threads on here and getting hungrier :P

Pizza and Hot Chicken Wings BBWW.

I have solved my Pizza issue with 5-1oz turkey meatballs, spagetti sauce and 1 oz. part skim mozzarella.
    320 cals 7F 16C 34P

Chicken wings. There isn't a sub for that.

We have pizza quite often around here - definitely feel your pain!

I still eat it, but I limit my portion and add a salad to help satisfy. Sometimes I make my own as well and it's easier to control the calories that way.

Good luck, and you can friend me!

i luv pizza too, but found a good way to make a healthy version that i luv is to use mountain bread as base or "light wrap", not too much cheese but flavour with yummy things like fresh oregano, basil, tomatoes.......mmmm. I'm a major sweet tooth too so I do plan what I will eat and make sure that I can afford a choc treat.

Okay you love pizza, so do I.

But Biggest Loser has came out with an amazing pizza that is easy to make.

1 Wheat tortilla the one I use is 112 calories.
2 oz of Jennie-O breakfast or italian turkey sausage
    1/3 c of Mozz cheese (I use regular cheese) and I don't use 1/3 of a cup.
Ragu (serving is 1/2 cup) but I use way less than 1/2 a cup.

Spray cookie sheet so tortilla does not stick, cook in oven until crunchy (poke holes in tortilla to keep it from bubbling up). I cook mine at 350 for about 10 min.

Cook sausage in a pan (whatever is left over put in a baggie and you can use for later time.

Layer tortilla like you like, add toppings, I usually use green peppers, onions, mushrooms, black olives. You can also use turkey pepperoni also which is amazing.

Place back in oven for about 15 minutes untiil cheese is good and melted. This is only about a 250 calorie PIZZA!!!! And AMAZING! You can use pizza sauce too but I like Ragu better.
  • i crave everything, just not at the same time, its really strange cuz my cravings come in spurts. for example if im craving pizza, ill go on a pizza kick & want to eat it like every other day for a couple weeks. then i get tired of it and move on to something else. does anyone else do this?? the problem is that i never crave anything healthy. its always junk of course. to be honest i dont know how to quite deal with this. its only going on my 3rd day doing MFP so i havent had a tough moment yet. previously when dieting i would just try to ignore my cravings which only works for so long. i could use some advice on this topic as well...
  • Pizza. Pizza. and Pizza. This is definitely my weakness too. Have you found any substitutions that as lower in fats and calories?

This sounds really good - thanks!
  • If you have a craving, satisfy it. Either eat 1 slice from your favorite pizza place OR come up with a healthy alternative and have a larger portion. Pizza hut veggie lovers thin crust no cheese is my favorite. (I know it sounds weird, but it's yummy!)

That's the secret isn't it. Look at the meal you crave and take most of the nasty out of it. Voulez-vous
