I have now lost 93 pounds, and I have done this with cardio only! I need to start doing strength taining to tone up and help tighten up the loose skin. I have never had to do strength training before and am not sure what I should be doing. I don't want to do anything more then tone up. Can anyone offer me any suggestions or a beginner program? Any advise will be helpful.

Lunges, squats, push-ups, sit-ups. You may have been doing strength training all along and didnt realize it.
  • Just start out with the basics and light weights. Keep the reps at a minimum. Like 2 sets of 15 bicep curls, triceps, shoulders...
Squats and lunges are always good to do too, even without weights!
    And CONGRATS too!!!

Go to bodybuilding.com and put in your goals and it will give you a plan!

  • there are some great apps (pushups, situps, squats) that will start you at your level and than help you progress. they don't require a gym or any investment in equipment. they will help you set the habit of working out and than you can decide if you want to proceed with it further.

your doing amazing keep it up.
  • For toning and strength training I recommend any exercises that can use your own body as resistance. Push-ups (even on the pushups done on the knees) are very, very effective for toning biceps, chest, shoulders, and parts of the back. Plus, if done correctly they strengthen the core as well. Of course, doing only pushups can become quite boring, so break it up a bit with other exercises. Also, don't be ashamed of starting small. Like anything else, performing pushups takes practice, which leads to the ability to do more and do them better...it's a win/win situation for your body.
