Finding my balance

Hello everyone,
As someone who is going though an “awakening” of sorts I was wondering what others are doing.
Now we are all here because we want to get healthier, but to you is it more then just about losing weight?
I know for me it’s not just about losing the weight it’s about finding some balance in my life, this would involved getting my mental, spiritual, emotional and physical plans in alignment. I know this kind of thinking is not for everyone but for me it's working.
So are you just working on just weight loss or are you working on yourself as a whole being and working on other areas too?

It started out just being a number on a scale, but over the past 8 months it has become more about a total lifestyle change. I have done so much research into foods and now I know how to eat and feel full on less and using better fuel for my body. Yoga has changed my life, mentally and physically, and I used to be a person who hated the outdoors and never wanted to do anything active, but now I am training for a 165 mile bike ride from Houston to Austin. I think "getting healthy" is a slippery slope that led to all kinds of changes for me. But in a good way0

For me I realized that food has too big of a role in the 'balance' of my life. It should not even be a part of it. Food should be fuel-the end. We use food for sadness, boredum, anger, stress, nervousness, celebration etc. Once I stopped looking at foo as anything other than fuel, it changed my ability to treat it differently. I also learned to make sure I document everything, even the 10 caloried gummy vitamin. Just as we check our fuel tank to make sure that it has enough gas.0

It's not about weight at all for me, honestly - it's about getting healthier for the sake of my future children, and to be able to have a home birth. My fiance and I are starting trying to conceive the beginning of next year, so that gives me a few months to really push to get healthier, and continue those healthy habits through pregnancy.0

Yes, the weight loss is a big part of it, but what I find from my lifestyle changes I'm making through MFP is that it's easier to make healthier decisions.
I get refreshed more readily. I let the little things go more easily. I am more at peace with who I was and looking forward to discovering who I can be.
The last year or so really taught me a lot, between politics at faire, romance, and trying to rebuild my knee and my heart. I'm working on the physical shell intentionally but the side effects are surprising and very nice.
