OK, I'm really excited about this and feel the need to share it with as many people as possible.
About 5/6 months ago, I went to the doctor for blood work and what-not, standard physical type stuff. Well, evidently my cholesterol levels were elevated from a few years ago when I last had it done. :grumble: Ugh. I am not a person that does well with medication - I just forget to take it. So the doc and I agreed that we would run the numbers again in a few months and in the mean time I would work on diet and whatever else I could.
So, at the end of April, after giving up on WW (we just weren't right for eachother, it was amicable) I joined MFP and could really look at what I was taking in on a daily basis. On top of that, I started running mid-May.
Well, today I went back to see just how good/bad things were going. And guess what? They all dropped!! Even my doctor was in disbelief! She couldn't believe that I did it with just diet and exercise. I think she was relieved to see that it can work that way. It's just not settling in just what that means. I've never wanted to be on any long-term medications, and I think with the help of MFP and its community I might just be able to achieve that!!
Oh, and PS, if anyone wants to add me, I'm always up for new friends and their stories

Congratulations, that is AWESOME!!! After only a month on MFP and exercise, I had to lower my BP medication because I was stabilizing. Hoping to get rid of it altogether! Again, CONGRATULATIONS...that's a BIG DEAL!0

Congratulations! Compliments are good NSV's, but realizing that you have improved your health and lengthened your life are the BEST NSV's. I'm adding you as a friend
Good for you for running! I can do all kinds of cardio but that... I seem to have a mental block about it and my shins/knees hurt too bad and I quit every time I start trying...0 -
I like hearing this.,,,,Im like you, don't like meds. You are an inspiration, because, my doc said the same thing in March. Next checkup, hopefully, same results as you. Good job!!!!!0

Congratulations! I am currently on meds. for high cholesterol and high triglycerides and am trying to get off of at least one of them through diet and exercise. I tried running but wound up with a meniscus injury, so now I'm biking.0

I have to admit, I love knowing I'm simply not alone. It's amazing what we can accomplish by just sticking with it. Best of luck to you all! And, Gary, let me know how things go. Knee injuries suck, but I'm glad to read that you're biking.0
