I am looking for some easy recipes for my kick-start detox diet and just for general healthy living. I don't have a lot of cooking experience or a whole lot of extra money! If you have any good ideas for me or for others, please share!
Also I'm new on here, add me please!
Thanks so much!!!

I feed a family of 6 on one income and I make sure we eat healthy. I freeze a lot of things and make homemade breads, jellies, sauces, soups, and fruit snacks. Tonight we're having pizza. I made the sauce (96 ounces of sauce cost me $3.86 to make and will make 8 large pizzas). I will make the dough and that costs about $.23 to make 1 pizza - and if you're make a white crust, the dough is even cheaper to make. And then the toppings. We don't go crazy, just some canadian bacon (bought in bulk at Sam's), turkey pepperoni, cheese and some veggies. If you aren't an experienced cook, start looking around online. Allrecipes.com has some terrific recipes. I make a lot of soups too. I'll make a huge pot of vegetable beef soup and freeze half of it. I serve it with a half a sandwich or a salad and it runs about $2.86 per person for the whole meal.

Wow that is amazing. How do you calculate the cost of each meal?
  • Check out getting a subscription to Clean Eating magazine. I love it. The food is easy to make, tasty and healthy. They have a section every month with " Five meals for $50" and each recipe makes four servings. For a single guy, I'll make a few of the recipes over a couple days and the meals will last me for several days. Check out their website -- some of the recipes are on there too.

I would look into some good bean and lentil dishes. Soups and salads and casseroles based on beans are cheap and healthy. You can add a little bit of meat for flavor, and it goes a long way! Split pea with ham hocks or shanks, lentil dal, red bean soup, etc!
