How many other people are in public safety?

I'm an EMT turned 9-1-1 dispatcher engaged to an EMT/Firefighter. This lifestyle isn't the best for eating healthy and sticking to a workout with the crazy long hours, stress, chaos, etc etc etc....

Maybe we can keep each other motivated, share recipes, tips/tricks, quick and easy workouts, etc?

Feel free to add me.

I'm not a 911 dispatcher but I have my POST and plenty of years at an answering service/alarm company (same sort of environment - chained to your desk for long hours, stress, chaos, just different because usually no one is dying except on the Hospice accounts - there are still emergencies just not normally life or death).

That job is where I gained the majority of the weight I am trying to lose.

Can you take dumbbells to work? You could do strength training reps in between calls and you won't be too out of breath to speak. Pushups (against the wall or desk or on the floor if you are strong enough), lunges, lifting weights.

There is a fantastic Weight Watchers cookbook called "Weight Watchers 5 Ingredients, 15 Minutes" that gives great low-cal, fast and easy recipes. The nutritional info is listed after the point count for those of us who don't do WW.
