Missing B.C. boy returned to home in middle of night Moskaluk confirmed on Sunday morning that a suspect returned the boy to his family's home at around 3 a.m. local time. "In general, the little guy appears to be in good health," he told reporters at a news conference in Sparwood, three hours after the boy was found. Kienan's return comes a day after Mounties in B.C. said the young boy was abducted from his family home earlier this week, following earlier speculation that he may have wandered away on his own. "We've got a child back. We've got a child returned. I've never been able to say that," said Moskaluk adding that it's rare for a child to be returned by an abductor. Kienan's father found the young boy sitting on a couch in the Hebert family home after police received a phone call indicating that the toddler would be dropped off there, a neighbour told CTV B.C.'s Rob Brown. Paul Hebert and his family have been living in a neighbour's house across the street from their home since Kienan's disappearance, Brown told CTV News Channel. According to Brown, Hebert noticed police in front of his family home with flashlights early Sunday morning. "He walked across the street asked them what was going on and the police explained that they had received a phone call saying that the boy had been dropped off in the home," said Brown. Paul entered the home with police and discovered his son, awake and sitting on the family couch with his blanket, said Brown. Police have taped off the Hebert family home because it is now considered a crime scene, he added. On Saturday, Kienan's father made an emotional plea to whoever had his son. "We're just asking please bring Kienan to a safe place right now, like a gas station or a store parking lot where he's visibly seen and just drop him off there," Paul Hebert said at an RCMP news conference. "Walk away. We just want him safe." Moskaluk said Kienan's prompt return may be an indication that the plea worked. "I truly want to smile about this because it's not very often that these types of things happen," he said. Investigation still underway When Kienan first went missing, RCMP identified a local man as a person of interest in the case. It is not yet known if Randall Hopley, 46, was involved in the child's disappearance or safe return. Hopley's whereabouts are still unknown. During Sunday's conference, Moskaluk appealed to Hopley directly. "Randy, we just want to talk to you," he said. "What we've got left to do is speak with you. It's very, very important that we speak to you right now." Hopley's mother Margaret Fink told CTV B.C. that she hasn't seen her son since Tuesday, when he visited her for the first time in about a year. Their meeting happened hours before Kienan went missing. Fink is urging her son to surrender to police, said CTV's Rob Brown. There are currently no suspects in custody in connection with Kienan's abduction. Police checkpoints have been set up across the small B.C. town. Moskaluk said police are still searching for Hopley and his vehicle, a brown 1987 Toyota Camry with the licence plate 098RAL. Kienan's disappearance prompted a province-wide Amber Alert that was issued on Wednesday and extended into Alberta on Saturday. Hundreds of volunteers spent the latter half of the week helping investigators search for the toddler by combing the rugged terrain near his home.
