Losing my mojo...

I really don't know what I could ask of my MFP friends to help with this problem. I've lost a lot of weight in 4 months and I am very proud of myself for it. But lately, I just don't seem to have the drive to exercise like I did. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I might get my groove back?

I honestly think we all go through this. The only way to get back into the groove is to make yourself workout. Don't look for an excuse or find an excuse why you can't, won't, shouldn't, don't want to do it. JUST DO IT. Most of the time (unless I am ill or injured) once I get there and start working out - I feel great. Sometimes it is just the initial forcing myself to go.
Do you have anyone you can workout with? I think sometimes having someone to go with or to push you to go helps.0 -
Make yourself a promise right now for tomorrow, the next day and the day after that. Stick with this promise no matter how tired, lazy, unmotivated etc you might be. Promise to yourself that you'll do your workouts, eat right / whatever is needed until you reach your goal. You set your goal for a reason right? Keep your focus on that goal and achieve that goal! It becomes easier once you get on the horse, the hard part is standing to get on the horse to begin with0

I'm probably going to be in the minority here, but I'd actually try taking a break for a little while. Allow yourself a week where instead of your usual workouts, you indulge yourself in some other kind of 'you time'. Keep somewhat active, but maybe in a different way - go for a leisurely walk in a beautiful spot (before the weather turns icky). Don't just veg on the couch all week, but do allow yourself some breathing room with the full intention of starting back on track after your week is up. When you do start back, see if you can find something new or different to do. We all get bored with the same old thing after a while, so change it up and see if that gives you some new energy.
Good Luck!0 -
I agree with the posts before mine. We all go through this. You need some self time to help motivate movement again. I think our problem is we get comfy and think it's ok to stop or cheat or take a break, but when we do we wind up gaining a few pounds back. I know I have! I've jsut begun but as of today, I've logged in 30 days in a row. 1 month and I only have 4lbs to show for it. Not that great. But I don't want to linger on that thought or else I'll fall back into old comfy ways. So I'm going to get my ipod set up with some bangin tunes tomorrow, do some healthy grocery shopping ( now cook this cookbook- 350 cal meals or less! ) and hit the park early in the am. rain or shine, with my 1 year old in tow, and I'm not gonna make an excuse. So don't you fret. I know how it is to be dealing with weightloss and quitting smoking at the same time. Just remember to help change a bad habit into a positive one. You can do this. We don't know you- but we believe in you; and that's what counts!0

The problem is that I did take a break. I had some schedule changes with work and I let myself slack off. Now I just can't get back into it full swing. In a way, though, I think you might be right. I have been losing weight really fast. Maybe I need to just slow down the weight loss a little. Maybe I shouldn't beat myself up and go ahead and slack off on the workouts. I don't have to do cardio every day. I'm still losing. Your post was very helpful. It definitely gave me some things to think about. Thank you!0 -

You're so sweet. Thank you!
I'm curious about that cookbook!0 -
I hit a rough spot, and I think finding a physical "goal" helps a lot. I signed up for a Half Marathon Dec. 5th of this year. Sometime between now and then I'm hoping to do a 5K. It helps to have something to go for.0
