Hi guys.
Today I am throwing myself at the gym. I had a meeting with a personal trainer last week that showed me around the place. It all looks rather scarey......... the machines are huge!! So am a bit nervous, was supposed to be going with a friend but shes not coming now. I know I can do it but got this big churning in my belly lol
This is a huge step, its the first time ever using the gym. I cant be there all the time so plan to use it minimum twice a week.
Is this good enough, I do workout at home for a minimum of half an hour a day too.
Any tips or advice, what stuff do I need to take?? etc
xxxxx

ALWAYS stretch before and after, arms legs everything! It's amazing the difference it makes with soreness etc
I think take it slow and easy, don't want to hurt yourself in trying to go to hard to fast. It depends a lot on where your current fitness level is, did the trainer you talk to have any suggestions?
Don't have to use the big scary fancy multi armed machines at first of course, try a bike or a treadmill for something more familiar before moving to something using all four limbs?
As far as what to take- guess I need some clarification? Are you meaning clothing/water etc wise or food/vitamin wise?
Good luck, hope your gym buddy sticks with it. I know my work outs are so much better/more fun/quicker with someone else.0 -
Bring a towel, and water? Oh and music. That's about it (:0

Good for you! The gym will bring some great results, though intimidating at first. You'll get used to it faster (and easier) than you'd think, and eventually you just might love it!
The only gym essentials I think are an mp3/ipod, and a water bottle, after that perhaps a towel if you don't mind carrying it, and your post-workout drink/shake (or whatever, if any) ready in your gym bag or car. The main thing (for me) is the ipod, it helps get your motivation, and focus (blocking out distractions at the gym), while assisting in adrenaline and endorphins production, I couldn't workout without it.
Good luck~!0 -
this time 2 weeks time you will not even think twice about it!! all you will be worried about is checking out the nice looking fellas!! lol0

I just 'zone out' and genuinely feel like I'm there on my own whilst working out and I don't tend to go much more than twice per week. You'll love it once you start - and you've inspired me to get out of bed and head off there now!0

Thanks guys.
I have an mp3 player with fresh music, just done that. Water bottle in fridge ready so will be nice and cold. Towel......That is a good one will go and get one now. Will have to buy one specially sometime this week, just for sweat.
I usually hate sweating cant bare the thought of anyone see me sweat but that is what we will all be there for sooo.......
I just found a sports bra thank god!!! I don't think I have ever used it. Not a good thing really!!
I am aiming just to use the treadmill for today I think, see what the trainer says. Because its the first time I don't think I will be wanting to use anything else other than the treadmill.
I want start swimming to as I love being in the pool, I aim for this to happen once a week too.
Hopefully see a nice change to my fitness level and not get tired walking up a hill.

Try the elliptical ( cross trainer) I loved that, and the bikes are good (if you wanna sit down for a bit hehe) but the treadmills good however I have a phobia of getting past jogging, I can never get up to a full run, haven't a clue why but I just can't! Lol you'll do great! X0
