Naturally there are a lot of posts on here about stretching and pain. A friend of mine who's a runner introduced me to this little item for stretching my achilles tendons - but it's also a great stretch for runners, elderly ... it's just a great little helper

ANYBODY can use this - EVERYBODY needs it - WHO doesn't need to stretch?

this ISN'T advertisement, just trying to help ppl I see complaining of pain, shin splints etc
(please don't delete, NOT sales - basically the same as recommending a good workout)

  • Thank you, I will have to check it out. I run, and I get shin splints now and then.

The standing calf stretch shown in this article will give the same stretch without spending $30 on a device to do it: http://frealfitness.wordpress.com/2010/02/02/calf-strain/

My own experience with shin splints led me to discover that my problem wasn't calf tightness alone but also hamstring tightness. Incorporating daily hamstring stretches into my routine is what took care of them after years of struggles.
